Notes

  1. Four DIMMs of the same size form a bank.
  2. A populated DIMM bank requires an UltraSPARC III CPU.
  3. Mixing UltraSPARC III and UltraSPARC III Cu is not supported.
  4. All system boards within a system must be at the same firmware revision.
    When replacing a system board, confirm that the firmware version on the replacement matches the other system boards.

SF3800 - SF6800 Notes

  1. The minimum operating system is Solaris 8 10/01.
  2. The minimum hot swap upgrade OS is Solaris 8 02/02.
  3. The minimum firmware level for 900MHz CPU modules is 5.12.5.
  4. The minimum firmware level for 1050MHz CPU modules is 5.13.2.
  5. The minimum firmware level for UltraSPARC III Cu 2.3 is 5.13.2
    (UltraSPARC III Cu 2.3 is on FRUs 540-5051-03 and 540-5052-03).
  6. CPU/Memory Board slots are labeled SB0 through SB5.
  7. Install Filler Board 540-4040 in all empty CPU/Memory Board slots.
  8. Install Filler Panel 330-2821 when servicing a CPU/Memory Board slot.
  9. Mixing CPU speeds of 900MHz and 1050MHz within a domain or system/platform is supported.
    750MHz CPUs cannot be included in mixed-speed configurations.
  10. 1GB DIMMs 501-6109 and 540-5086 are only supported on 900MHz and faster system boards.
  11. InfoDoc 42950 provides a "ftp-only" shortcut for updating the flashprom firmware.

Sun Fire 12K / 15K Notes

  1. The minimum operating system for 900MHz CPU modules is Solaris 8 10/01.
  2. The minimum operating system for 1050MHz CPU modules is Solaris 8 2/02 with appropriate patches.
  3. Mixing CPU speeds within a domain or system/platform is supported.
  4. SMS 1.2 patches >=112483-05 and >=112488-07 are required for the 1050MHz Uniboard.
  5. CPU/Memory Board slots are labeled SB0 through SB17.
