Sun Fire V880 Codename: Daktari

Notes

  1. The minimum operating system is Solaris 8 7/01.
  2. Memory errors include CPU number, J number, and Slot location.
  3. Solaris 8 7/01 and 10/01 require Patch >=108528-13 to identify a failing DIMMs CPU/Memory board slot location (ABCD).

Memory Installation Notes

  1. Four DIMMs of the same size form a group.
  2. The minimum memory is eight DIMMS in groups A0 and B0.
  3. DIMM groups associated with a failed CPU are unavailable for use.
  4. Interleaving is limited to memory on the same CPU/Memory Board.
  5. Two-way interleaving occurs in any group when the DIMM size does not match the size used in any other group.
  6. Four-way interleaving occurs between any two groups when the DIMM sizes are the same.
  7. Eight-way interleaving occurs when the DIMMs in all four groups are the same size.

Option Notes

  1. Option 7046 includes 501-5818 with no memory.
  2. Option 7047 includes 501-5818 with 4GB of memory (16 × 256MB).

Sun Fire V880 Codename: Daktari

Sun Fire V880 Notes

  1. The minimum operating system for Sun Fire V880 to run at 900MHz is Solaris 8 10/01 with all applied patches, or Solaris 8 2/02.
  2. 750MHz Sun Fire V880 systems can utilize the 900MHz CPU/Memory modules if the Solaris and OBP levels indicated below are present.
  3. Sun Fire V880 OBP 4.5.6 added 900MHz Cu support.
Sun Fire V880 OBP 4.6.3 added 900MHz Cu 2.3 support (UltraSPARC 900MHz Cu 2.3 is installed on 501-6334-03)
Although the above info relays the minimum OBP levels, it is highly recommended that Sun Fire V880 servers with 900MHz CPUs be at OBP 4.6.7 or higher.
