Preface

Solaris Administration Guide: Naming and Directory Services (DNS, NIS and LDAP) describes the set up, configuration, and administration of the Solaris 9 operating environment naming and directory services: DNS, NIS, and LDAP. This manual is part of the Solaris 9™ Release System and Network Administration manual set.

Who Should Use This Book

This manual is written for experienced system and network administrators.

Although this book introduces networking concepts relevant to Solaris™ naming and directory services, it explains neither the networking fundamentals nor the administration tools in the Solaris operating environment.
