Configuring FRSM-HS2 Cards

Configuring FRSM-HS2 Cards

FRSM-HS2 module sits in any of the MGX 8250 Service Module slots. The FRSM-HS2 is a high Speed frame relay service module. It provides two 52 Mbps HSSI lines and a peak throughput of 04 Mbps.

Card Config

Use the Card Configuration dialog to view FRSM-HS2 card characteristics, hardware, firmware, and status information. The Card Configuration dialog parameters are described in Figure 8-1.

Slot Number

Number of the current slot the card is installed in.

Card Type

Current card type. In this case, it is an FRSM-HS2.

Card State

Front card status. Can be one of the following:

  • nocard

  • standby

  • failed

  • selfTest

  • heldInReset

  • boot

  • mismatch

  • unknown

  • coreCardMisMatch

  • blocked

  • reserved

Front Card Description

Description of the front card.

Front Card Serial No

Serial number of the front card.

Card Hardware Revision

Current card hardware revision.

Card Firmware Revision

Current card firmware revision.

MIB Version Number

MIB version number updated when any part of the MIB changes.

Card Reset Reason

Reason for the last card reset. Can be one of the following:

  • powerup

  • parityError

  • watchDog

  • resource

  • clrAll

  • missingTask

Line Module Type

Current line module number. Can be one of the following:

  • lm-HS1-2HSSI

Line Module State

Current back card state. Can be notPresent, Present, invalid.

Line Module Description

Description of the current back card.

Line Module Serial Number

Serial number of the current back card.

Line Module Hardware Revision

Hardware revision of the current back card.

Line Module Firmware Revision

Firmware revision of the current back card.

Service Module Features

Use the Service Module Features dialog to view service module features for the FRSM-HS2 card. (See Figure 8-2.)

Indicates whether this card will support DS0 channels.

Card Supports Foresight?

Indicates whether this card will support ForeSight. Can be rateControlEnabled or rateControlDisabled.


Note   This is not a configurable dialog. The CLI commands related to this dialog are dspfeature, chanfst, and clrsmcnf commands.

FR Port Realtime Counters

Use the FR Port Realtime Counters dialog to configure FR port Realtime counters on a FRSM-HS2 card. (See Figure 8-3.)

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to cycle redundancy check (CRC) error.

Rcv Frames DiscAlignmentErr

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to alignment error.

Rcv Frames DisIllLen

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to alignment error.

Rcv Frames DiscIllLen

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to illegal length.

Rcv Frames Illegal Header

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to illegal header.

Total number of received frames aborted.

Total number of frames received with an unknown DLCI.

Last unknown DLCI received.

Rcv Frames Tagged FECN

Total number of frames received that were tagged with forward explicit congestion notification (FECN) bit.

Number of frames received that were tagged with backward explicit congestion notification (BECN) bit.

Rcv Frames Tagged DE

Total number of frames received that were tagged with discard eligible (DE) bit.

Rcv Frames Disc Exceeded Threshold

Total number of frames discarded in Ingress due to exceeded discard eligible (DE) threshold.

Rcv Kbps AIR

Received Average Information Rate (AIR) in Kbps.

Rcv Buf Not Available

The total number of times the receiver is turned off.

Xmt Port Frames

Total number of frames transmitted.

Xmt Port Bytes

Total number of bytes transmitted.

Xmt Port Frames FECN

Total number of frames transmitted with forward explicit congestion notification (FECN) bit already set.

Xmt Port Frames BECN

Total number of frames transmitted with backward explicit congestion notification (BECN) bit already set.

Xmt Port Disc ExceedQDepth

Total number of frames discarded in Egress due to exceeded queue depth.

XmtPortBytesDiscXceedQDepth

The total number of bytes discarded in Egress due to exceeded queue depth.

Xmt Port Frames During LMI Alarm

The total number of frames transmitted during Local Management Interface (LMI) logical port alarm.

Xmt Port Bytes During LMI Alarm

The total number of bytes transmitted during LMI logical port alarm.

Xmt Port Frames Abort

The total number of transmit frames aborted.

Xmt Port Underrun

The total number of frames discarded due to overrun.

Xmt Kbps AIR

Transmit Average Information Rate in Kbps.

Xmt Buf Not Available

The total number of times the transmitter is turned off.

Rcv Frames Discarded due to No Chan

The total number of frames received when no channel is set up.

Rcv Status Inquiry

The total number of Status Inquiry messages received.

Rcv Invalid Request

The total number of Invalid Request messages received.

Rcv Uni Seq Mismatch

The number of times User-Network Interface (UNI) messages with sequence number mismatches were received.

Xmt Status

The number of times Status Response messages were transmitted.

Xmt Asynch Update

The number of times Asynchronous Status messages were transmitted.

UNI Signalling Timeout

The number of times User-Network Interface (UNI) Status Requests were not received.

Xmt Status Inquiry

The number of status inquiry messages transmitted.

RCV Asynch Update

The number of times asynchronous status messages were received.

Rcv NNI Seq Mismatch

The number of times Network-to-Network (NNI) messages with sequence number mismatches were received.

Rcv NNI Signaling Timeout

The number of times Network-to-Network (NNI) status requests were not received.

Rcv Frames CLLM

The total number of CLLM frames received.

Rcv Bytes CLLM

The total number of CLLM bytes received.

Xmt Frames CLLM

The total number of CLLM frames transmitted.

Xmt Bytes CLLM

The total number of XMT CLLM bytes received.

CLLM Failures

The number of times an expected CLLM message was not received.


Note   The FR Port Realtime Counters dialog is not a configurable dialog.

LCN Partition Type

Use the LCN Partition Type dialog to configure LCN partition type on a FRSM-HS2 card. (See Figure 8-4.)

Choose one from the cardLcnPartitionType pulldown menu:

  • No Partition

Disables partitioning on the current card.

  • controllerBased

Enables controller based resource type for the current card. This means the total number of LCNs available to each controller is fixed but no reservation on each port.

  • portControllerBased

Enables card specific resource partitioning on the current card. This means that a certain number of LCNs available on each port for each controller is reserved as specified in the port resource.


Note   The dialog must be configured before adding any connections. Once a connection is added, this dialog cannot be changed until all of the connections are deleted.

To modify LCN partition type, make the changes you want and click Modify.

Ports

Use the Card/Ports dialog to configure Ports on a FRSM-HS2 card. (See Figure 8-5.)

Logical port number.

Port Line Number

Line number.

Port RowStatus

Enables, deletes, or modifies a port. Use the Create button to:

  • add

  • del

  • mod

Clear Port Status?

Clears the port row status. Choose noaction or yes from the popup menu.

Port Ds0 Speed

Port speed. Choose speed56k or speed64k from the popup menu.

EQueue Service Ratio

Number of times queue 1 is serviced for every time queue 2 is serviced.

Port Speed (Kbps)

Port speed in Kbps.

Port Admin Status

Port administrative status. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • up

  • down

Port State

Logical port state. Can be one of the following:

  • notConfigured

  • active

  • remoteLoopback

  • linefailure

  • signallingfailure

  • outofcelldelineation

  • localloopback

Port Type

Port type. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • frame-relay

  • frFUNI

  • frame-forward

Signalling Protocol Type

Sets the signalling protoco. Choose one from the menu:

  • strataLMI

  • annexAUNI

  • annexDUNI

  • annexANNI

  • annexDNNI

Async Updates

Enables asynchronous status updates. Choose disable or enable from the popup menu.

Link Integrity Timer (Secs)

Interval in seconds for Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) to do status polling.

Poll Verification Timer (Secs)

Interval in seconds for User-Network Interface (UNI) to expect status polling.

Status Polling Counter

Number of User-Network Interface (UNI)/ Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) polling cycles.

Error Threshold

User-Network Interface (UNI)/ Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) error threshold.

Event Count

User-Network Interface (UNI)/ Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) events, always greater than the Error Threshold parameter.

Enhanced LMI

Indicates whether or not enhanced Local Management Interface (LMI) is enabled on a logical port. Choose disable or enable from the popup menu.

CLLM Enable

Enables CLLM. Choose disable or enable from the popup menu.

CLLM XMT Status Timer (Milli Secs)

Interval in milliseconds for CLLM to send CLLM updates.

Port Signalling State

Port Signalling State. Can be one of the following:

  • Bit 0 = 0—Local Management Interface (LMI) okay or not enabled

  • Bit 0 = 1—Local Management Interface (LMI) failed

  • Bit 0 = 0—CLLM Failed

  • Bit 1 = 1—CLLM failed

Port Oversubscribed

Indicates whether or not the port is oversubscribed. Can be true or false.

Port Ingress Percent Utilization

Percentage of utilization of the port in the Ingress direction. Ranges from 0-1000.

Port Egress Percent Utilization

Percentage of utilization of the port in the Egress direction. Ranges from 0-1000.

Lines Configuration

There are four ways to select a line (from the front or rear view of the card) to display the appropriate line configuration dialog:

To display the configuration parameters for a HSS1 line/port, select the Category popup menu at the top of the dialog. The categories of line configuration are:

Physical Line Config (HSSI)

Use the Physical Line Config (HSSI) dialog to view and configure line information. (See Figure 8-6.)

The HSS1 Line Config dialog parameters are described in Table 8-5.

Line Number

Line number.

Line Enable

Disables, enables, or modifies a line. Can be one of the following:

  • modify

  • disable

  • enable

The default is enable.

Line Type

Line type. Can be dte or dce. The default is dce.

Line/Port Rate (Kbps)

Line rate.

Line Loopback Command

Line loopback command. Can be one of the following:

  • x21DiagnosticMetallicLoop

  • x21NoLoop

  • x21DiagnosticFrontcardLoop

  • RemoteLoop

Line Send Code

Line send code. Can be one of the following:

  • x21SendLoopACode—Start sending loop A code. Valid only if the back card is HSSI and the line type is DTE. This command loops the line module of the remote device.

  • x21SendLoopBCode—Start sending loop B code. Valid only if the back card is HSSI and the line type is DTE. This command loops the digital section of the remote device.

  • x21SendLocalLoopCode—Start sending CCITT X21 loopback type 3 code. This is valid only if the back card is type X21.

  • x21SendRemoteLoopCode—Start sending CCITT X21 loopback type 2 code. This is valid only if the back card is type X21.

  • x21SendUnLoopCode—Sending a loopback termination request. This is valid for both HSSI and X21 lines.

Line Loopback Code Detection

Enables detection of line loopback codes. Can be codeDetectEnabled or codeDetectDisabled.

The default is codeDetectDisabled.

To modify the parameters, make the changes you want and click Modify.

Physical Line Alarm Configuration (X21/HSSI)

Use the Physical Line Alarm Config (HSSI) dialog to view and configure physical line alarm information. (See Figure 8-7.)

Parameter Description

Alarm Line Num

Line number of the HSSI interface.

Lin Alarm State

Status of the line alarms. A value of zero indicates no alarms.

Line EIA Status

Status of the HSSI lines.

Line Severity

Used to set up the severity of an LOS or clock mismatch alarm. When an LOS or clock mismatch occurs, the FRSM-HS1 sends an alarm with the appropriate status. Can be one of the following:

  • minor

  • major

  • donotcare

To modify the parameters, make the changes you want and click Modify.

Logical Ports Configuration

The port configuration dialogs are described in the sections that follow. There are four dialogs for an FRSM-HS2 port configuration:

Logical Port Config

Use the Logical Port Config dialog to view and configure logical ports on an FRSM card. (See Figure 8-8.)

Logical port number.

Line No.

Line number associated with the logical port.

Port RowStatus

Port row status. Choose add, delete, or modify.

Port Ds0 Config Bitmap

Bitmap of DS0s for a line, used to form this logical port. Bit 0 represents DS0-1.

Port Ds0 Speed

Port DSO speed in cells per second.

Port Flags

Number of flags transmitted between frame relay frames.

EQueue Service Ratio

Number of times queue 1 is serviced for every time queue 2 is serviced.

Port Speed (kbps)

Port DSO speed in kbps.

Port Admin Status

Port administrative status. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • up

  • down

  • write-Only

Port State

Logical port state.

portSvcStatus

Port SVC status.

portSvcShareLcn

Indicates whether or not the LCN and VPid address spaces are shared across all the ports.

portSvcLcnLow

Beginning of the LCN range reserved for SVCs.

portSvcLcnHigh

End of the LCN range reserved for SVCs.

portSvcDlciLow

Beginning of the DLCI range reserved for SVCs.

portSvcDlciHigh

End of the DLCI range reserved for SVCs.

Port Type

Port type. Choose one from the pop-up menu:

  • structured

  • unstructured

  • framingOnVcDisconnect

  • strau

Signalling Protocol Type

Signalling protocol type. Choose one from the pop-up menu:

  • other

  • no signalling

  • strataLMI

  • annexAUNI

  • annexDUNI

  • annexANNI

  • annexDNNI

Async Updates

Enables asynchronous status updates. Choose disable or enable.

Port Ingress Percent Utilization

Percentage of utilization of the port in the Egress direction.

FR Port RTCs

Use the FR Port RTCs dialog to view and configure port RealTime counters on a FRSM card. (See Figure 8-9.)

Logical port number.


Note   For a T1 card, the maximum port number is 192. For an E1 card, the maximum port number is 248. For FRSM VHS 2CT3, the maximum port number is 256.

frResPartCtrlrNum

Index number for the controller using this port. Can be one of the following:

  • par

  • pnni

  • tag

frResPartRowStatus

Used to add, delete or modify the partition.

frResPartDlciLow

Represents low end of reserved DLCI.

frResPartDlciHigh

Represents high end of reserved DLCI.

frResPartIngrPctBw

Percentage of total ingress bandwidth reserved.

frResPartEgrPctBw

Percentage of total egress bandwidth reserved.

Logical Ports (Service Queue)

Use the Logical Ports (Service Queue) dialog to view and configure logical ports on an FRSM card. (See Figure 8-12.)

The logical port number.

portServiceQueueNo

Identifies 4 of 8 possible queues according to the service type:

  • 1 (High priority)

  • 2 (rt VBR queue)

  • 3 (nrt VBR and ABR queue)

  • 4 (UBR queue)

Queues 5 through 8 are reserved for future use.

portEgresQDepth

Indicates the peak Egress queue depth for the logical port. The total queue depth of all connections mapped to this queue should not exceed this value. The default value is 1048575.

portEgresECNThresh

ECN threshold for the logical port. If the total queue depth of all connections mapped to this port queue exceeds this threshold, then the appropriate ECN bit (FECN in the downstream direction and BECN in the upstream direction) get set.

portEgresDEThresh

DE threshold for the logical port. If the total queue depth of all connections mapped to this port queue exceeds this threshold, and the DE bit is set in the incoming frame, then the frame gets dropped.

portQBwInc

Denotes the bandwidth increment for this port queue. The bandwidth increment is the percentage of the port bandwidth used by all connections mapped to a particular queue scaled by the value 16384.

portBytesdiscxceedQueFull

Counter maintained for the number of bytes discarded due to the port queue depth exceeded.

portBytesdiscxceedQueFullDEThresh

Counter maintained for the number of bytes discarded due to the DE threshold exceeded.
