Configuring BXM-T3/E3/OC3 Cards

Selecting the Card and Displaying Card Parameters

Select the card (on both the rear or front view) to display the Card Configuration dialog by doing one of the following:

BXM-T3/E3/OC3 Card Configuration Dialog

Use the Card Configuration dialog to view BXM T3/E3/OC3 card characteristics, hardware, firmware, and status information. The Card Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 5-1.


Table 5-1:
Parameter Description

Slot No.

Number that identifies the slot the card is installed in.

Card Status

Status of the card. Examples are:

  • Active: Card in use. No failure.

  • Standby: Card idle. No failures.

  • Failed: Card failed.

  • Down: Card downed.

  • Mismatch: Mismatch between front card and back card.

  • Update: Processor card being updated by active processor card.

  • Locked: Incompatible revision of old software is being maintained, if needed.

  • Dnlding: Downloading new system software from adjacent node or workstation.

  • Dnldr: Downloading software and configuration from active processor card.

  • Missing: An active card has been removed.

BackCard Type

Back card type.

BackCard Serial #

Serial number on the card.

BackCard Revision

Model number and hardware revision of the back card.

No. Ports (Backcard)

Number of ports on the back of the card.

Card Configuration Dialog Parameters

Note This is not a configurable dialog.

Selecting Lines and Displaying Line Interface Parameters

Select the Line (on the rear view) to display the Intf Configuration dialog by doing one of the following:

The BXM T3/E3 Intf menu item provides one of more of the following configuration dialogs. The dialogs provided differ according to the interface:

These dialogs are described in the subsections that follow.

Physical Line Configuration

Use the Physical Line Configuration dialog to view physical line configuration features on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The Physical Line Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 5-2.

Number of the line.

Interface Type

Line Interface type

Virtual trunk number.

Parameter Description

Service

Type of service for the line. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • voiceData

  • fpRoutingTrk

  • atmRoutingTrk

  • atmAxisIntfTrk

  • atmIPXAFIntfTrk

  • atmFdrInfTrk

  • atmAPSInfTrk

Admin Status

Administrative status of the line. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • up

  • down

  • added

  • deleted

  • setbitmap

Oper Status

Operational status of the line. Can be one of the following:

  • up

  • down

  • added

  • deleted

  • setbitmap

DS3 Line Configuration

Use the ds3 Line Configuration dialog to view DS3 line configuration features on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The ds3 Line Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 5-3.

Number of the slot the card is in.

Line

Line number.

Line Alarm Status Information

Information on the status of the line alarm. Can be one of:

  • lineAlmTypeOTHER: Unused/unknown alarm type

  • lineAlmTypeOK: Line OK

  • lineAlmTypeDEACT: Line deactivated

  • lineAlmTypeACT: Line activated

  • lineAlmTypeBPV: BPV alarm

  • lineAlmTypeFS: FS alarm

  • lineAlmTypeFE: FER alarm

  • lineAlmTypePKOOF: Packet OOF alarm

  • lineAlmTypeOOF: OOF alarm

  • lineAlmTypeLOS: LOS alarm

  • lineAlmTypeBADCLK: BAD CLK alarm

  • lineAlmTypeCRC: CRC alarm

  • lineAlmTypePKCRC: HE alarm (packet CRC errors)

  • lineAlmTypeOOM: OOM (multiframe synchronization error) alarm

Line Coding

Type of ZCS line coding used on this line. Can be ds3Other or ds3B3ZSe3HDB3.

Clock Source

Transmit clock source. Can be one of: loopTiming, localTiming, throughTiming.

Line Local Loopback

Current local loopback status. Choose enable or disable from the pop-up menu.

Line Remote Loopback

Line remote loopback. Choose enable or disable from the pop-up menu.

ds3 Lines Configuration Table Parameters

Resource Partitions

Use the Resource Partitions dialog to view resource partition features on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The Resource Partitions dialog parameters are described in Table 5-3.

Parameter Description

Vtrk

Virtual trunk number.

Partition ID

Resource Partition Identification. A partition in the BXM resource is dedicated for control by the corresponding VSI Master. The partition is not available for any other cards.

Admin Status

Administration Status for this resource partition. Choose enable or disable from the popup menu.

Oper Status

Operational Status for this resource partition. Choose enable or disable from the popup menu.

PCV Max Lcns

Maximum number of PVC LCNs of ALL partitions on the Logical Interface (slot.port.vtrk for trunks and slot.port for lines). The LCN value is logical interface based. The default value for this object is 256.

PCV Max BW

Maximum PVC bandwidth of ALL partitions on the Logical Interface (slot.port.vtrk for trunks and slot.port for lines). The bandwidth is logical interface based. The default value for this object is the line rate of this interface.

  • For BXM E3, the bandwidth is 80000.

  • For BXM T3 the bandwidth is 96000.

  • For BXM OC3 the bandwidth is 353208.

  • For BXM OC12 the bandwidth is 1412830.

VSI Min LCNs

Minimum VSI LCN number of the partition. The default value for this object is 0.

VSI Max LCNs

Maximum VSI LCN number of the partition. The default value for this object is 0.

VSI Vpi Start

Start of VSI VPI number of the partition.

  • 1..4095 for NNI Trunk/Port configuration.

  • 2..4095 for autoroute trunk.

  • 1..255 for UNI Port configuration.

VSI Vpi End

End of VSI VPI number of the partition default value for this object is 0.

  • 1..4095 for NNI Trunk/Port configuration.

  • 2..4095 for autoroute trunk.

  • 1..255 for UNI Port configuration.

VSI Min Bw

Minimum VSI bandwidth of the partition. The default value for this object is 0.

  • For BXM E3, the bandwidth is 80000.

  • For BXM T3, the bandwidth is 96000.

  • For BXM OC3, the bandwidth is 353208.

  • For BXM OC12, the bandwidth is 1412830.

Qbin Table

Use the Qbin Table dialog to view Qbin table features on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The Qbin Table dialog parameters are described in Table 5-5.

Line

Number of the line.

Vtrk

Identifies the line the trunk is in.

Admin Status

Administration Status for this Qbin. Choose enable or disable from the popup menu.

Oper Status

Operational Status for this Qbin.

Min Bw

Minimum bandwidth of the Qbin. The default value for this object is 0.

  • For BXM E3, the bandwidth is 80000.

  • For BXM T3, the bandwidth is 96000.

  • For BXM OC3, the bandwidth is 353208.

  • For BXM OC12, the bandwidth is 1412830.

Derth

Discard threshold of the Qbin. The default value for the object is 9800.

Lo CLP

Low CLP threshold of this Qbin in percentage. The default value for the object is 80.

Qbin ID

Qbin Identification.

Efci

EFCI threshold of this Qbin in percentage. The default value for the object is 30.

The Logical Ports menu item provides two dialogs:

Port Configuration

Use the Port Config dialog to view port configuration features on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The Port Config dialog parameters are described in Table 5-6.

Card

Number that identifies the slot the card is in.

Line

Number of the line.

Admin Status

Administrative status of the port. Can be up, down, modify, or writeOnly. The default is writeOnly.

Operational Status

Operational status of the port. Can be one of: added, up, deleted.

Port Type

Type of port. Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: uni (user-to-network interface) or nni (network-to-node interface).

Port Interface Type

Interface type of the port. Can be one of:

  • t3: T3 interface

  • e3: E3 interface

  • oc3-smf: OC3 single-mode fiber

  • oc3-mmf: OC3 multimode fiber

  • oc3-stm1: OC3 synchronous transport module level 1

  • oc3-utp: OC3 unshielded twisted pair

  • oc3-stp: OC3 shielded twisted pair

  • oc3-smflr: OC3 single mode fiber long range

  • oc12-smf: OC12 single-mode fiber

  • oc12-mmf: OC12 multimode fiber

  • oc12-smflr: OC12 single mode fiber long range

No. of VCs terminating on this port

Number of Virtual Circuits (VC) that terminate on this port.

Port Speed (cps)

Speed of the port in cells per second.

Percentage Utilization

Percentage utilization is disabled, the bandwidth for the connections terminating on the port will be used to determine the port load. If percentage utilization is enabled, the bandwidth for the connection is multiplied by the percentage utilization for the connection to determine the port load. Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: disable or enable.

Port Management Protocol

Port management protocol used for this port. Can be one of: LMI, ILMI, none.

Port Config Dialog Parameters

Port Real Time Counters

Use the Port Real Time Counters dialog to view port Real Time counters on a BXM T3/E3/OC3. The Port Real Time Counters dialog parameters are described in Table 5-7.

Card Number

Number of the slot the current card is installed in.

Port Number

Port number of the logical port for that line.

Unknown VPI/VCI

Number of cells discarded due to unknown address, either unknown VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) or unknown VCI (Virtual Channel Identifier).

# Cell Buff OverFlows

Number of times the port has incurred a cell buffer overflow.

# Cells Discarded By IngressCU

Number of cells dropped by Ingress CU (Control Service Unit).

# Rx Cells with AIS

Total number of cells received with Alarm Indicator Signal.

# Rx Cells with FERF

Total number of cells received with FERF (Far End Reporting Failure).

#Rx Cells

Total number of cells received.

# Rx Cells with CLP

Number of cells received with Cell Loss Priority set.

# Rx Cells with EFCI

Number of cells received with EFCI (Explicit Forward Congestion Indication) set.

# Tx Cells

Total number of cells transmitted.

# Tx Cells with CLP

Number of cells transmitted with Cell Loss Priority set.

# Tx Cells with EFCI

Number of cells transmitted with EFCI (Explicit Forward Congestion Indication) set.

# Cells Discarded due to Parity Error

Number of cells dropped because of parity errors.
