Configuring BNI-155 Cards

Selecting the Card and Displaying Card Parameters

Select the card (on both the rear or front view) to display the Card Configuration dialog by doing one of the following:

BNI-155 Card Configuration Dialog

Use the Card Configuration dialog to view BNI-155 card characteristics, hardware, firmware, and status information. The Card Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 7-1.


Table 7-1: Card Configuration Dialog Parameters
Parameter Description

Slot No.

Number that identifies the slot the card is installed in.

Card Status

Status of the card. Examples are:

  • Active: Card in use. No failure.

  • Standby: Card idle. No failures.

  • Failed: Card failed.

  • Down: Card downed.

  • Mismatch: Mismatch between front card and back card.

  • Update: Processor card being updated by active processor card.

  • Locked: Incompatible revision of old software is being maintained, if needed.

  • Dnlding: Downloading new system software from adjacent node or workstation.

  • Dnldr: Downloading software and configuration from active processor card.

  • Missing: An active card has been removed.

BackCard Type

Back card type.

BackCard Serial #

Serial number on the card.

BackCard Revision

Model number and hardware revision of the back card.

No. Ports (Backcard)

Number of ports on the back of the card.


Note This is not a configurable dialog.

Selecting Lines and Displaying Line Interface Parameters

Select the Line (on the rear view) to display the Intf Configuration dialog by doing one of the following:

The BNI-155 Intf menu item provides one of more of the following configuration dialogs. The dialogs provided differ according to the interface:

These dialogs are described in the subsections that follow.

Physical Line Configuration

Use the Physical Line Configuration dialog to view physical line configuration features on a BNI-155. The Physical Line Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 7-1.

Card

Number that identifies the slot the card is in.

Line

Number of the line.

Interface Type

Line Interface type.

Vtrk

Virtual trunk number.

Parameter Description

Service

Type of service for the line. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • other

  • framrelay

  • atmAccessPort

  • voiceData

  • fpRoutingTrk

  • atmRoutingTrk

  • atmAxisIntfTrk

  • atmIPXAFIntfTrk

  • atmFdrInfTrk

  • atmAPSInfTrk

  • imaRoutingTrk

  • physicalMedia

  • atmvsiIntfTrk

  • atmParIntfTrk

Admin Status

Administrative status of the line. Choose one from the popup menu:

  • up

  • down

  • added

  • deleted

  • setbitmap

Oper Status

Operational status of the line. Can be one of the following:

  • up

  • down

  • added

  • deleted

  • setbitmap

ATM Trunk Configuration

Use the ATM Trunk Configuration dialog to view ATM trunk configuration features on a BNI-155. The ATM Trunk Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 7-3.

Parameter Description

vtrk

Identifies the slot the trunk is in.

Trunk Status

Status of the trunk. Can be one of: major, minor, clear, down, deact (deactivated).

Disable Trunk Alarm

Allows you to disable the trunk alarm. Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: enable or disable. The default is enable.

Xmit Rate (cps)

Trunk transmission rate in unit of cells per second.

Xmit Capacity (cps)

Transmit capacity of this trunk in cells per second.

Xmit Load (cps)

Transmit load of this trunk in cells per second.

Rcv Rate (1000 pkts/sec)

Receive rate in 1000 packets per second. Enter a value in the field.

Rcv Capacity (cps)

Receive capacity in cells per second.

Receive Load (cps)

Receive load in cells per second.

ATM Trunk Configuration Table Parameters

More ATM Trunk Configuration

Use the More ATM Trunk Configuration dialog to view more ATM trunk configuration features on a BNI-155. The More ATM Trunk Configuration dialog parameters are described in Table 7-3.

Parameter Description

vtrk

Number that identifies the slot the trunk is in.

Trunk Type

Status of the trunk. Can be one of: major, minor, clear, down, deact (deactivated).

VPI Used

Virtual path identifier address for trunks using CAM or SAM. Enter a value in the field.

Chans Reserved

Number of channels reserved for this trunk. Enter a value in the field.

Traffic Class

Integer containing bits representing the traffic classes of this trunk. Enter one of the following into the field:

  • Bit0 Voice

  • Bit1 Time Stamped

  • Bit2 Non-Time Stamped

  • Bit3 Frame Relay

  • Bit4 Not used

  • Bit5 ForeSight

  • Bit6 ATM CBR

  • Bit7 ATM VBR Bit8ATM ABR

Parameter Description

Other end Node Type

Type of node or shelf at the other side of this trunk. Can be one of:

  • ndTypeOther: Other type

  • ndTypeIPX: Node type IPX

  • ndTypeBPX: Node type BPX

  • ndTypeIPXAF: Node type IPX acting as feeder

  • ndTypeAXIS: Node type AXIS

  • ndTypeIGX: Node type IGX

  • ndTypeBPXAF: Node type IGX acting as feeder

Other end Node Name

Name of the node at the other side of this trunk.

Other end IfIndex

Index for the other end point.

Pass Synch?

Indicates whether or not the trunk is allowed to pass synchronization signals from a clock source to another node. Choose yes or no from the pop-up menu.

State Reserve (cps)

Bandwidth reserved for statistical variations in cells per second. Enter a value in the field. The default is 1000.

Loop Rcv Clock to Tx

Indicates whether or not to loop the clock to the transmit clock. Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: yes or no.

atmTrkDerouteDelayTimer

Deroute delay timer of the trunk in unit of second. The default value is 0.

atmTrkGtwyChCount

Gateway Channel count. This cannot exceed the total number channels per port.

Physical Link

Link type. Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: satellite or terrestrial. The default is terrestrial. You cannot change this value after adding the trunk.

ATM Trunk Real Time Counters

Use the ATM Trunk Real Time Counters dialog to view ATM trunk Real Time counters on a BNI-155. The ATM Trunk Real Time Counters dialog parameters are described in Table 7-4.

Vtrk

Identifies the slot the trunk is in.

cells to line

Total cells transmitted on the line.

cells from port

Total cells received from the port.

Voice cell drops

Number of transmitted ATM voice cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks, 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

Ts cell drops

Number of transmitted time-stamped ATM cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

Parameter Description

NTS cell drops

Number of transmitted non time-stamped ATM cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

Hi Pri cell drops

Number of transmitted high priority ATM cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

BurstyA cell drops

Number of transmitted bursty data A cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

BurstyB cell drops

Number of transmitted bursty data B cell dropped. This statistics is not applicable to ATM Virtual Trunks. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

CBR cell drops

Number of constant bit rate transmitted cells dropped. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

VBR cell drops

Number of variable bit rate transmitted cells dropped. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

ABR cell drops

Number of available bit rate transmitted cells dropped. 0 is returned for ATM Virtual trunks.

BPX:Line Config (DS3 Interface)

Use the BPX:Line Config (DS3 Interface) dialog to view DS3 line configuration counters on a BNI-155. TheBPX:Line Config (DS3 Interface) dialog parameters are described in Table 7-5.

Information on the status of the line alarm. Can be one of:

  • lineAlmTypeDEACT: Line deactivated

  • lineAlmTypeACT: Line activated

  • lineAlmTypeBPV: BPV alarm

  • lineAlmTypeFS: FS alarm

  • lineAlmTypeFER: FER alarm

  • lineAlmTypePKOOF: Packet OOF alarm

  • lineAlmTypeOOF: OOF alarm

Line Coding

Type of ZCS line coding used on this line. Can be one of the following:

Clock Source

Transmit clock source. Can be one of: loopTiming, localTiming, throughTiming.

Line Local Loopback

The current local loopback status. Choose enable or disable from the popup menu.

Line Remote Loopback

The line remote loopback. Choose enable or disable from the popup menu.
