Configuration, General

Introduction

Configuration information is provided in this part of the document.

For additional information on the BPX switch, including card descriptions and additional information on configuration, refer to the Cisco BPX 8600 Series Reference. For a description of the commands used to operate a BPX switch, refer to the Cisco WAN Switching Command Reference. Refer to the Cisco StrataView Plus manuals for information on network management.

Configuration Procedures

Figure 9-1 shows the sequence of operations followed during the configuration of the BPX switch. A summary of this sequence is as follows:

As a minimum, the nodes need to be configured with name (cnfname), date (cnfdate), time (cnftime), time zone (cnftmzn), and trunks upped (uptrk) and added (addtrk or addshelf), as applicable. In addition, instructions are provided for configuring the nodes for operation with the SV+ NMS manager.

The following chapters provide information and configuration examples for various types of ATM connections:
