Installation Preparation and Overview

Prerequisites

4.x Upgrade Prerequisites

If this is part of an upgrade of 4.x software, please perform the following steps:

Step 1   Read the Release Notes for any updated information concerning upgrade and/or configuration procedures.

Step 2   Stop any agents and processes associated with uOne. This information is available in the uOne Administration Manual.

Step 3   Remove all software packages that are currently on the gateserver. See "Removing Packages from Previous Releases".

Step 4   Run the Installation Script to install packages on the gateserver.

Note   There is no need to run the Quick Configuration tool again. However, you may need to add to or change your configuration as directed by the Release Notes.

Removing Packages from Previous Releases

Step 1   Access the gateserver that will be upgraded.

Step 2   Use umcli to stop system software.

Step 3   Login as superuser.

Step 4   cp $HOME/quickconf/scripts/remove42 /tmp

Step 5   ./tmp/remove42

Caution Some dependency violations may appear when removing packages. You can override dependency violations; however, we recommend that you override them only if you are removing all packages.

Installation Overview

The following is a summary of the installation/configuration process using the installation script and quick configuration tool.

Step 1   Set up the Solaris 2.6 operating system based on file system and package documentation in "Gateserver OS Configuration".

Step 2   Install/configure back end servers (directory and messaging) based on the uOne Back End Servers Reference Manual. This step is not required if upgrading from a previous release.

Step 3   Run the Installation Script on the gateserver.

Step 4   Run the Quick Configuration tool for uOne (UM) and UMSA (Unified Messaging System Administration).

Step 5   Run the ldapsetup.sh script created via the Quick Configuration tool. This step is not required if upgrading from a previous release.

Step 6   Login to UMSA and start provisioning COS, administrators, and users.

Step 7   Call into the system and start using uOne.

Procedure

The installation media (CD) or CCO contains a copy of the installation script that enables installation of the various uOne packages. This tool provides the ability to install or reinstall packages via a datastream file. It also creates the spmaster account as well as spgrp, if needed. The only requirements are to install the Solaris 2.6 operating system with the appropriate patches and to ensure the gateserver has the appropriate disk space allocations. See "Gateserver OS Configuration".

Note   Review the Readme and Release Notes first. Packages, patches, and other installation caveats listed in the Release Notes will supersede these instructions.

Installing from CD

To install the software for the uOne product from the CD-ROM:

Step 1   Close all applications and active windows.

Step 2   Insert the uOne 4.2S CD into the CD-ROM drive on the gateserver.

Step 3   Open a terminal window.

Step 4   Become superuser.

Step 5   cd /cdrom/uone_42xs

Step 6   Type ls at the command line to list the files in the current directory. The following files should be available—

uone-421s-install-solaris26.ksh
uone-421s-foundation-solaris26.pkg
uone-421s-messaging-solaris26.pkg
uone-421s-notifysvcs-solaris26.pkg

Step 7   Follow the steps outlined in the next section, "Installation Script".

Installing from CCO

Step 1   Download the appropriate uone-rxx-421s-<product>-solaris26.pkg.Z file(s) to your host.

Note   With the exception of the plugins, foundation packages must be downloaded for any messaging or notification services products.

Step 2   After these files have been downloaded, issue the following command on the appropriate uone-421s-<product>-solaris26.pkg.Z file(s) to get them into a usable format:

uncompress uone-421s-<product>-solaris26.pkg.Z

Step 3   Follow the steps outlined in the next section, "Installation Script".

Installation Script

To begin the installation:

Step 1   In the directory where the *.pkg files are located, issue the following command as superuser:

sh uone-421s-install-solaris26.ksh

Step 2   After you confirm that you would like to continue with the installation process, the system will specify the locations where it will search for the software.

Prompts are only required if this system will be handling voice calls.
North American Dialing Prompts presents the user with a prompt that asks for 4,5,7, or 10 digit numbers.
Generic Prompts do not have this type of prompt.

The following files are being installed with setuid and/or setgid permissions:
/home2/spmaster/r410/bin/SPSCHED <setuid root>
Do you want to install these as setuid/setgid files [y,n,?,q] y

Step 3   Upon completion, a summary of the packages installed and their status will appear.

Note   The Installation Script will not reinstall packages that are already present. Additionally, if any packages fail to install (or to install properly), use the pkgadd -d command to install them individually.
