Sending Broadcast Messages

If you are an authorized broadcast message user, you can send broadcast messages to a large list of message addressees (such as all employees at a site). The system dynamically creates a broadcast message list each time you send a broadcast message. The system administrator creates filters, such as a filter for all employees at a particular area code or a particular site; your broadcast message lists are based on these filters. Your system administrator will supply you with your valid 3-digit broadcast list numbers.

Broadcast messages can only be sent over the Netscape Messaging Server; you will receive an error message if you attempt to send broadcast messages over any other type of server. Message recipients cannot reply to broadcast messages, and they will not receive Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) notification (the phone's MWI light will not light or stutter dial will not alert the recipient to a broadcast message).

Broadcasts that include a large number of subscribers can significantly load the system; it can take several minutes before message distribution begins. In consideration of these issues, please try to:

Step 1 Press 2 from the Main menu.

Step 2 Enter the 3-digit broadcast message list number and press #.

Step 3 Press # again.

Step 4 Record your message at the tone, and press # when you're done recording.

Step 5 If you are satisfied with the message, press 1 to send it or follow the prompts to edit the message.
