Centralized Management of the uOne System

Centralized Management of the uOne System

The Unified Communications Manager (UCM), a web-based tool, allows operations personnel to centrally manage and monitor Cisco's distributed uOne System. This tool provides reporting and operational state information used for monitoring overall system functionality and reliability.

Note The Unified Communications Manager tool is an optional package. Check with your system administrator to see if it is installed on your uOne system.

This chapter includes information about how to:

Accessing the UCM

Step 1 Open a web browser.

Step 2 Type the URL for UCM
http://<hostname>:<port>/Login.html

Example: http://host1:280/Login.html

The UCM login screen displays.

Step 3 Log on with an administrative user ID and password.

The UCM main screen displays.

Monitoring uOne Processes with UCM

A crucial part of your job is to monitor uOne process status on all of the GateServers in your system configuration. For the uOne system to run smoothly, all uOne processes must be up and running at all times. Refer to "Understanding uOne Processes" for a listing and descriptions of uOne processes.

Step 1 Access UCM

Step 2 From the UCM main screen, select Operations.

Step 3 Select UM Process Activity.

Step 4 Select one or more hosts from the drop-down menu. (Shift Key + Click selects more than one host.)

Step 5 Select a refresh rate from the drop-down menu.

Step 6 Click on Generate Report.

The UM Process Activity Report displays. Through the use of this report, you can ascertain at a glance whether a given GateServer is running the expected services or if something it was configured to do has failed or is otherwise not operational.

Viewing System Information

UCM provides several reports on system information and statistics.

Step 1 Access UCM

Step 2 From the UCM main screen, select Unix Commands.

Step 3 Select one of the following options:

Step 4 Select one or more hosts (or days) from the drop-down menu.

Monitoring Call Activity with UCM

To ensure that the uOne system is running at optimum capacity, you should monitor uOne call activity. You can generate several call activity reports. We recommend that you generate these reports at least once a day.

The following call activity reports are available:
