Fax over IP Configuration
Configuration of the fax over IP capabilities on the Gateserver is handled by the Quick Configuration tool.
To enable faxing on the Gateway, the Store and Forward Fax feature is used in conjunction with the software feature, Voice over IP for the Cisco AS5300. To use Store and Forward Fax, you must have the software component of Voice over IP for the Cisco AS5300 installed on your access server. In addition, you need to have a Microcom modem card installed.
- Have Microcom fax hardware installed on the Gateway.
- Configure the Gateway to enable the fax feature by accessing the Store and Forward Fax documentation located at:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120limit/120xj/sf_fax/
- The following files will be configured for fax by using the Quick Configuration tool.
FaxPrint.ini
DialMap.ini
Schedule.<hostname>
- Setup Fax Admin accounts and have subscribers use those accounts. For more information on this, see the uOne Administration manual.
- Have e-mail aliases of the form
FAX=<phantom>@<domain> (where <phantom> is the phantom phone number of a subscriber to be used for faxing to their mailbox, and <domain> is the email domain name). This enables the user to send faxes directly from their mailbox.
- Provision the inbound fax number field on the add or modify subscriber screen of UMSA, with the phantom phone number to be used to refer to the subscriber's mailbox. Refer to the uOne Administration manual for additional information.
Note See the Appendix B Case Studies: Gateway for fax configuration information.
