Caution Please note that the automated installation CD must NOT be used for upgrades or reinstalls, but for new installations only. If the Cisco uOne software is reinstalled over existing software, it will overwrite existing files including any configuration files and subscriber messages. To determine whether you currently have Cisco uOne installed on your system, please check Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel folder of your system. |
The Automated Installer consists of a set of two Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) Quickbuilder CDs which sets up the operating system for a new MCS-7835 machine and installs uOne and its supporting servers. The first CD configures the new system and installs Windows NT 4.0. The second CD-ROM performs the automated installation of the uOne components.
The Automated Installer assists in the installation and configuration of uOne software. Before beginning the installation process, the Automated Installer performs some checks to ensure that the parameters for a successful installation are in place.
If you have uOne currently installed, a warning message displays advising you that the CD is for new installations only. Proceeding with a reinstallation may overwrite any existing data. For migrating your existing uOne system to this Corporate version, please see the "Migrating uOne" chapter of this guide. If you need to reinstall the software, please refer to the "Removing and Reinstalling Software" chapter of this guide.
The Automated Installer controls the Windows NT Administrator password during installation of the operating system and uOne. At the end of the installation of uOne, you are prompted to enter an Administrative password for the NT system.
The domain name is an important element of your system, and must adhere to certain parameters in order for the installation to complete successfully. The domain name must adhere to the following restrictions.
1. It must be 32 characters or less. The Automated Installer does not allow a domain name longer than 32 characters.
2. It must be a top-level domain name (that is, machine.com rather than cisco.machine.com). If it is not, the Automated Installer displays an error message reminding you that only a top-level domain name may be used.
3. The domain name cannot include hyphens, underscores, or any other special character, such as:

Caution Do not change your domain name after installation. Be sure that your domain name meets the installation parameters BEFORE you begin the installation process. If you decide to change your domain name after installation, you must remove and reinstall the software from your system. To remove and reinstall software, please refer to the "Removing and Reinstalling Software" chapter of this guide. |
