System Administration

System Administration

Cisco uOne administration system allows you to perform administrative tasks such as adding, changing and deleting Classes of Service and uOne users. This chapter explains how to perform these administrative tasks.

Changing the Netscape Messaging Server Password


Caution It is critical that if you change the NT Administrator password, you also change the password for the Netscape Messaging server. If these passwords do not match, uOne users are not able to access their mailboxes.

To correct the problem of non-matching passwords:


Step 1 Verify the error.

Step 2 Select Start from the Windows taskbar, then choose Settings, Control Panel, then Services.

Step 3 Double-click on Netscape Messaging Server.

Step 4 In the Password text box, enter the password used for the NT Administrator. Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password dialog box and click OK.

Step 5 Select Netscape Messaging Server from the Services list and click on the Start button. Close the Services window.


Caution It is imperative that the NT Administrator and Messaging Server passwords match. The steps above assume that the NT Administrator password has been changed. However, if the Netscape Messaging server password is changed, you MUST also change the NT Administrator password so that both passwords match.

Using uPower/Admin

You use the uPower/Admin tools to perform system administration tasks like adding a Class of Service and adding users. When a system administrator adds a user to uOne using uPower, the system creates a profile for the user in the Netscape Directory Server. This user profile information includes the user's mailbox ID, uOne password, and the class of service, as well as various settings and options. It also creates a mailbox for the user on the Netscape Messaging Server. This mailbox, identified by the user's telephone number, contains an inbox folder and a trash folder, and may contain other folders that the user creates.

During installation of uOne, a shortcut for the uOne Administration is added to the Start Menu that allows you to easily load the Netscape Browser and bring up the uPower/Admin web page.

Accessing uPower/Admin

You access uPower/Admin, a web-based tool, to:

To access uPower/Admin, do the following


Step 1 Click the Start button in the Windows task bar to get the Start popup menu.

Step 2 Select Programs, then Cisco uOne.

Step 3 Select the uOne Administration option to access uPower Administration.

You can also access the uPower/Admin manually by the following steps.


Step 1 Click the Start button in the Windows task bar to get the Start popup menu.

Step 2 Select Programs, then Netscape Communicator.

Step 3 Select the Netscape Navigator option to access the browser.

Step 4 Type the following URL in the browser location field:

http://<hostname>:280/MSGadmin

This will bring up the login screen for the System Administration tool.

Step 5 Type the following e-mail ID and password to authenticate:

e-mail id: root@<fully qualified messaging server host name>

password: 1234

Step 6 Press Login.

Administering Class of Service

A class of service is like a template that defines a common set of uOne services for a group of users. Classes of Service (COS) can be used to bundle feature sets into distinct packages that define certain attributes of an account, such as the type of service (voice and e-mail), mailbox quotas, number of distribution lists, and the size of distribution lists.

The COS function facilitates administration of common features by user group. Only the Systems Administrator can change the features covered under the COS; they cannot be customized by individual users. When an attribute is changed in a COS, it is changed for all the users in that COS.

You can use Classes of Service to provide different bundles of services to match different types of users. For example, your company may have one set of users who mainly work at their desks and require a limited set of services ("class of service 1"), and a second set of users who are always on the road and require a larger set of service ("class of service 2").

Adding a Class of Service

To add a COS, perform the following steps.


Step 1 Access uPower/Admin.

Step 2 Click the COS Administration button.

Step 3 Click either Add a Class of Service or Modify a Class of Service. If you click Modify a Class of Service, you need to enter the Class of Service profile you would like to modify.

Step 4 Enter the appropriate data in the input fields, as shown in Table 2-1.

Step 5 Click Submit

Step 6 To add or modify another Class of Service, repeat steps 3 through 5.

Directory Server

System-generated entry. This server contains user information; it is set up as part of the system configuration.

This field cannot be modified.

Entry DN

Select the entry distinguished name (DN) to which the user belongs from the dropdown menu. This information is set up on the LDAP server. It indicates where in the LDAP database this entry resides.

A valid distinguished name (DN) from the dropdown menu.

Class of Service ID

Enter a unique number that will identify this Class of Service definition.

A unique number within a community.

Class of Service Name

Enter a descriptive name for this Class of Service ID number. Up to 60 alphanumeric characters are allowed.

Up to 60 alphanumeric characters.

Dist. List Max. Entries

Enter the maximum number of entries allowed in a distribution list for this Class of Service.

1-150

Default = 65

Max. No. of Dist. Lists

Enter the maximum number of distribution lists allowed for users in this Class of Service.

1-99

Default = 10

Start Time of Business Hours

From the dropdown menu, select the hour and AM or PM for the starting time of business hours. The system uses this starting time for playing the out-of-hours greeting.

From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate hour and AM or PM.

Default = 8:00 AM

End Time of Business Hours

From the dropdown menu, select the hour and AM or PM for the ending time of business hours. The system uses this ending time for playing the out-of-hours greeting.

From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate hour and AM or PM.

Default = 5:00 PM

Business Days

Click the box for each valid business day. The system uses business days for playing the out-of-hours greeting.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Default = Monday through Friday

Max. Len. Of Voice Messages

Enter the maximum length of time in seconds that a caller is allowed for leaving a message.

Any number

Default = 180 seconds

Telephone Password Len. Max.

Enter the maximum length allowed for a user telephone access password.

If Telephone Password Len. Min. = Telephone Password Len. Max., then the Telephone password is a fixed length equal to the defined Telephone password length.

Enter the minimum length allowed for a user telephone access password.

If Telephone Password Len. Max. = Telephone Password Len. Min., then the Telephone password is a fixed length equal to the defined Telephone password length.

Max. Login Attempts Before Lockout the Mailbox

Enter the value for the maximum number of failed logins allowed across multiple sessions prior to locking the user's mailbox.

Reinventory

Select yes to speak the message inventory whenever the user returns to the Main Menu after pressing *1. Select no to disable this feature.

If reinventory=yes, the system will reinventory the user's mailbox every time the user returns to the Main Menu. This will impact the engineering of the systems.

Allow Subscriber call transfer

Select yes to allow subscribers to make a call to any telephone number without hanging up from their current connection. Select no to disable this feature.

Allow Caller call transfer

Select yes to allow callers to transfer to another extension. Select no to disable this feature.

Allow Caller transfer to coverage

Select yes to allow callers to transfer to an operator or a subscriber-defined coverage number. Select no to disable this feature.

Diskspace Remaining Warning Level

From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate percent at which to alert Users that their available disk space is getting low.

The default is 30%, which means that a user in this Class of Service will get a warning when 30% of the disk space is left.

Select a percentage from the dropdown menu.

Default = 30%

Search Base

Enter the search database in this class of service. Some example entries are:

o=Cisco System, c=US

o=Another Organization, c=US

A valid search database in this format: o=<search database>

Phone Number Dialing Section

Enter a phone number dialing plan section name from the C:\CiscoSystems\uOne\parms\ dailmap.ini file. This value is a COS attribute used for outdialing purposes.

Default = USDOMESTIC

Personal Access uOne.ini File Name

Enter the name of the uOne.ini file for Personal Access Users. (This is set up during system configuration and can be found in C:\CiscoSystems\uOne\ parms\uOne.ini.)

Default = none

Deleting a Class of Service

To delete a Class of Service definition, follow these steps:


Step 1 Access uPower/Admin.

Step 2 Click the COS Administration button.

Step 3 Click Delete a COS.

Step 4 Enter the search criteria in the input fields.

Step 5 Click Search.

Step 6 Click the appropriate Class of Service definition, if necessary.

Step 7 Click Delete.

Step 8 To delete another Class of Service definition, repeat steps 3 to 7.


Note The Administrator must move or delete all subscribers from a Class of Service before attempting to delete the Class of Service.

Administering Users

Before users can access their uOne accounts, they must be added to the system. In addition, if user information changes, the system administrator must make the appropriate changes in the system. To perform these functions, you use the web based uPower/Admin tool.

Adding and Modifying Users

To add a new user or modify an existing user, follow these steps.


Step 1 Access uPower/Admin.

Step 2 Click on the Subscriber Administration button.

Step 3 Click on either Add a Subscriber or Modify a Subscriber.


Note If you click Modify a Subscriber, you need to enter the search option information for the subscriber you would like to modify, for example the full name, telephone number, last name or user profile. Then press Search.

Step 4 Enter the appropriate data in the input fields, as shown in Table 2-2.

Step 5 Click Submit.

Step 6 To add or modify another user account, repeat steps 3 through 5.


Note The User ID Options and E-mail Address fields work together. If you use a telephone number in the User ID Options field, you must use that same telephone number for the user's e-mail address. For example, with a user telephone number of 8047625000, the e-mail address would be 8047625000@ABC.com


Note If you call an IP phone from another IP phone, both must be in the database.

Directory Server

System-generated entry. This server contains user information; it is set up as part of the system configuration.

This field cannot be modified.

Entry DN

Select the entry distinguished name (DN) to which the user belongs from the dropdown menu. This information is set up on the LDAP server and indicates where in the LDAP database this entry resides.

A valid distinguished name (DN) from the dropdown menu.

Full Name

Enter the user's first name, middle initial, and last name.

Up to 30 characters. Initial capitalization is recommended.

Given Name

Enter the name by which the user wishes to be known, for example, nickname or first name.

Up to 30 characters. Initial capitalization is recommended.

Last Name

Enter the user's last name.

Up to 30 characters. Initial capitalization is recommended.

Telephone Number

The user's 10-digit telephone number.

A 10-digit telephone number. Do not include spaces or dashes.

User ID Options

Select the appropriate user ID options from the dropdown menu. If you select "user name" (the only option available in this release of uOne), the first part of the user's e-mail address is used as the User ID attribute.

Valid entry from the dropdown menu.

Default = user name

E-mail Address

Enter the user's e-mail address.

A valid e-mail address.

E-mail Password

Enter the user's e-mail password.

Alphanumeric characters. The minimum and maximum length of this password is set up at the COS level.

Default = 1234

Telephone Access Password

Enter the user's PIN.

Numeric only.

The minimum and maximum length of this password is set up at the COS level.

Default = 1234

Mail Quota

Indicates the maximum amount of disk space in bytes that will be available for this user account.

This amount depends on the volume of mail handled and the amount of free disk space that is available on the Messaging Server.

Default = 0 (unlimited disk space)

COS DN

Select the COS DN for this user from the dropdown menu.

A valid COS ID and distinguished name (DN) from the dropdown menu.

An example entry is: COS=20, o=Cisco, c=us

Mail Server

Select the Messaging Server from the dropdown menu. This is the server that contains the user's messages.

A valid Messaging Server from the dropdown menu.

User Level

Select the user level from the dropdown menu.

A valid entry from the dropdown menu.

First Time User---prompt the user to record a greeting and to change the default telephone access password the first time that the user logs in to uOne.

Existing User---bypass the initial prompting.

Default = First Time User

Subscriber Location

Identifies the user's location. Used for sending broadcast messages.

A valid location from the dropdown menu.

Default is defined in the indexData.ini file.

Play Messages Headers

From the dropdown menu, select Message bodies only or Headers and bodies.

Valid entries from the dropdown menu:

Message body only---play messages without the headers

Headers and bodies---play the message header and the message body

Headers and bodies---play the message header and the message body

Default = Message body only

Auto Play of Messages

From the dropdown menu, select "Message Type menu first" or "Main Menu first."

Valid entries from the dropdown menu:

Get Messages Menu First---plays new messages menu after login

Main Menu First---plays the main menu after login

Default = Get Messages Menu First

Subscriber Time Zone

From the dropdown menu, select the time zone in which the users prefers to hear date/time features (such as, message headers, out-of-hours greeting, Single Number Reach Service, time of day system greeting).

A valid time zone from the dropdown menu.

Default = Eastern Std Time with Daylight Savings

Gender

From the dropdown menu, select "Female" or "Male." The system uses this field for the Single Number Reach Service user interface prompts. For example, if Female is selected, the prompt will say, "I am trying to reach her."

Default = Female

Failed Login Attempts

Serves as a counter for the user's consecutive failed login attempts. This field is used to reset the counter for failed login attempts.

0-999

Default = 0

Start Time of Business Hours

From the dropdown menu, select the hour and AM or PM for the time the user's business hours start. The system uses this starting time for playing the "out-of-hours" greeting.

From the dropdown menu select the appropriate hour and AM or PM.

Default = 8:00 AM

End Time of Business Hours

From the dropdown menu, select the hour and AM or PM for the time the user's business hours end. The system uses this ending time for playing the "out-of-hours" greeting.

From the dropdown menu select the appropriate hour and AM or PM

Default = 5:00 PM

Business Days

Click on the box for each valid business day. The system uses business days for playing the "out-of-hours" greeting.

Select the desired days of the week from the dropdown menu.

Default = Monday-Friday

Deleting Users

When you delete a user account through the uPower/Admin interface, the system deletes the user's entry on the Directory Server along with the user's related folders under the assigned Greeting Administrator special account on the Messaging Server.

To delete a user, follow these steps.


Step 1 Access uPower/Admin.

Step 2 Click the User Administration button.

Step 3 Click Delete a User.

Step 4 Select a search option from the dropdown menu. The options correspond to fields in LDAP entries.

Step 5 Enter the data in the input field.

Step 6 Click Search.

Step 7 Click the appropriate user account, if necessary.

Step 8 Click Delete.

Step 9 To delete another user account, repeat steps 3 to 8.

uPower/Personal Administration

Subscribers and Administrators can use the web-based uPower/Personal tool to perform user preference administration tasks after subscribers have been added to the uOne system. Some of the administrative tasks include personalizing their mailbox settings, setting up message notification, and creating distribution lists. See the "Personal Administration" chapter of the uOne User's Guide, Corporate Edition 4.1 guide for more information on the uPower/Personal tool.
