This chapter describes how to connect one machine (the client machine) to a remote machine that has the full uOne software already installed. The client machine should come with NT 4.0 and Service Pack 5 running CallManager on it. The client machine should also have the Netscape Navigator on it as a browser.
The following general steps show you to install a box with uOne messaging system:
Step 1 Connect the client and server machines through the network.
Step 2 Install Messaging Server pointing to the predetermined and running Directory Server. Follow the instructions for installing the Messaging Server in Chapter 6. The steps are basically the same expect for one step. This step occurs when the Messaging Server does not find the Directory Server. In this case, the Messaging Server installation program displays the Administration LDAP Configuration dialog box. Check the check box that Use LDAP-based Authentication and enter the server name and the based-DSN.
Step 3 Install Directory Server on this box and the stop and disable the same in the Services section. Disabling the Directory Server ensures that it will not automatically after the client machine reboots. It is essential to install because of the following two reasons:
Step 4 Add a notifier mailbox in the remote machine's directory database for the Messaging Server of the client box and correct the entry in the administration page for the Messaging Server.
Step 5 Install the uOne with information on the remote LDAP and local IMAP servers. These steps are the same as in Chapter 8, except when the installation program inquires about existing users in the LDAP database. In this case click the Yes button. The uOne installation program knows which Directory Server to connect with based on the information you provided the Messaging Server installation in Step 2.
Step 6 Invoke the Netscape Administration page and select the Message Server. Click on the Plugins button and click on the Edit Config File button. This action displays the list of configuration files and shows the name <notifier name>@<remove machine name>. Change the name of the machine to the client one.
Step 7 Configure CallManager in the same manner described in Chapter 9.
Step 8 Add the users to the database of the remote system using the client machine. These steps, which use uPower/UMSA, are the same as in Chapter 10. The difference in this case is that the URL you enter is http://<remove machine name>:280/MSGadmin.
The system should be ready. You don't need to install the Apache server on the local box, since you will use the uPower/UMSA for the remote box to add/manage users to the system.
