Caveats for Release 4.1E

This section describes possible unexpected behavior by Release 4.1.

Following attributes are not relevant for this release:
AddCos: PA UM ini File Name - The value does not affect any settings. Max. reach nos. to try - The help information is not relevant to the screen. Streaming Option - The help information is not relevant to the screen.
ModifyCos: PA UM ini File Name - The value does not affect any settings. Streaming Option - The help information is not relevant to the screen. Broadcast Expire - The help information is not relevant to the screen.
ModifySub: Personal Access Telephone Number - The help information is not relevant.
uOne provides a warning about the recording time ending as standard feature and the default value of the warning is 30 seconds before the recording time will run out.
In this release, the warning value has been set to 0. Hence the user will get no warning about the recording time ending in 30 seconds. Instead, at the end of the recording time allowed (default value of 3 minutes), the user will be prompted to send or re-record or delete the message via EditRecording menu.
uOne provides for configurable greeting length as a standard feature configurable via administrative application uPower.
In this release, this feature has been disabled and the default maximum length of greetings has been set to 60 seconds. Hence end users can not record a greeting for more than 60 seconds. In addition, the administrator can not modify the maximum greeting recording duration for individual subscribers.
When a subscriber is deleted using uPower, the directory information about the user gets deleted. The mailbox of the user is not deleted and the messages which are left in the mailbox are still present on the hard disk.
If a new user is added with the same email id as one of the old users who has been deleted from uOne database, then the new user can access the old messages which have been left in the mailbox by previous user.
Workaround is to delete the folder corresponding to the deleted subscriber. To do this:
1. Using Windows Explorer, go to the directory where the user id folders are located. This is generally C:\Netscape\SuiteSpot\MailServer\mailbox.
2. Locate the folder corresponding to the user id that has been deleted.
3. Delete the folder.
This user id may now be used again.
During load test of uOne, it was observed that some of the uOne applications will not take new calls.
In order for the system to be responsive to the end user, the number of uOne applications running on a system has been increased.
For a 4 port uOne system, the number of uOne applications running will be 8 whereas for a 8 port uOne system, the uOne applications running will be 12.
Hence the task manager will show more number of uOne applications (by 4) than the capacity of a particular uOne installation.

Important Notes

This section contains information about this release of uOne that may affect the way the system performs, the system interface, or troubleshooting the system.

Installation Issues

Please note that this CD is NOT intended for upgrades, but for new installations only. If the uOne software is reinstalled over existing software, it will overwrite any existing files. To determine whetheryou currently have uOne installed on your system, please check Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel folder on your computer.

It is recommended that after a successful installation, you back up your system using the Backup procedures in the documentation.

Directory Server Administration

Please note the following behavior that will occur after you have installed the uOne system using the Unattended Installation procedure.

To make modifications on the Netscape Directory Server Administration page:

Step 1 From the Administration page, make the desired changes. The Apply button will flash.

Step 2 When shutting down the Directory server, a prompt will ask that the user Apply Manual Changes or Undo Manual Changes.

Step 3 Select Apply Manual Changes. If this option is not selected, CHANGES MADE WILL NOT TAKE EFFECT.

If changes are not saved uOne will not operate properly. Symptoms will include not being able to add a new user, not being able to modify any of the user attributes using uPower PMA/UMSA, and not being able to modify user attributes using uOne; this includes changing greetings, business hours, the way messages are played, etc.

uTel Log File

The following error message may appear in the logfile related to DialMap processing. This is not an error, and should be disregarded:

[---e 08:08:37.671000 scr_cmds.c 1167 SesId2229 ?] -

Message Notification

Please note that the only form of notification supported in Release 4.1E of uOne is the Messaging Waiting Indication light on the telephone set (MWI). SMTP based notification, SMS notification and paging are not available or supported in this release.

Obtaining uOne Version Numbers

To obtain the version number of any uOne component:

Step 1 Locate the executable for the component, i.e., uTel, uOne, uLite, uPilot, etc.

Step 2 Right mouse click on the component and select Properties. The version number of the component displays in the Properties window.

Message Storage

The message storage capacity for each user on the system is 22MB. Please disregard any references in the documentation to message storage that is not 22MB.

Documentation Updates

The following section lists any errors, changes or omissions in the uOne Release 4.1E documentation set. Documentation addendum, errata sheets and updates will be made available on CCO on an ongoing basis.

Errors

In the uOne Administration, Installation and Operations Manual it states that the Class of Service features are not available. Class of Service features are available in this release of uOne.

Changes

Please note that the unattended installation process will work only for top level domain names. For example, when the domain name for an NT server is cisco.com or harvard.edu, the unattended installation procedure will function properly. But the procedure will not work if the domain is named tech.cisco.com or cs.harvard.edu.

For large installations with multiple domain names, please use the manual installation procedures outlined in the uOne Support Guide.
