This chapter describes the Monitor page and how to monitor the Cisco ICS 7750.
You can view current data about your system, such as the number of calls attempted on a specific IP phone, the number of bytes transferred over a specific Ethernet port, or the amount of disk space used on the system processing engine (SPE).
The Monitor page organizes elements of your system into the following hierarchy:
An SNMP Management Information Base (MIB) object can be displayed as a field on the Monitor page.
Figure 4-1 shows the Monitor page.

The Component Tree, displayed in the upper-left pane of Figure 4-1, shows the hierarchical listing of the subsystems and components.
The Monitorable Fields list, displayed in the lower-left pane of Figure 4-1, shows the fields that can be monitored for the component selected in the Component Tree.
The Monitored Fields list, displayed in the right pane of Figure 4-1, shows the data for the fields selected in the Monitorable Fields list.
The Monitorable Fields list displays all of the fields associated with the component selected in the Component Tree. Each field represents one MIB variable.
To add a field for a specific component, do the following:
Step 2 In the Monitorable Fields list that you want to display in the Monitored Fields list, click the fields. Each row in the list represents one SNMP MIB variable.
The Monitored Fields List has three columns:
Active |
|
Field Name |
|
Field Value |
|
Using the Field Properties page, you can set data update values, such as the polling interval, for the selected field.
To modify the properties for a field, do the following:
Step 2 Right-click the field, and click Field Properties on the drop-down list, or click the field to select it, and click the Properties button. The Field Properties page appears, as shown in Figure 4-2.

Step 3 Modify the properties as described next:
Monitoreddetermines if this field monitors the MIB variable. Unchecking this box sets the field inactive and removes the field from Monitored Fields list when you click OK or Apply. If you click OK, the Field Properties page is closed, and the field is deleted from the list.
Activetoggles the polling on or off when you click OK or Apply. The check next to the field in the Monitored Fields list is removed when you click OK or Apply. You can reactivate the field by checking the box on the Field Properties page and clicking OK or Apply or checking the box next to the field in the Monitored Fields list.
Polling causes the field to update and display the current value for the field at various intervals.
Polling Intervaldetermines the time that elapses before the device is polled and the data is updated. The fields on the Monitored Field List has a polling interval of every 10 seconds by default. Enter the new polling interval in the Polling Interval field, and click OK or Apply.
Charts show the most recent field values along the X-axis, with the oldest values at the left side of the axis and the most recent values at the right. The time interval between each of the values on the X-axis is the same as the polling interval set in the Field Properties Dialog Box.
The chart Y-axis displays the upper and lower range of recent field values. Field values are plotted at the appropriate place between that range on the Y-axis. As new values are received, they are plotted at the left edge of the chart, and older values are moved to the right.
Select the type of graph used to display recent data. The chart displays on this page and shows the most current value for the field as well as the values at the most recent polling intervals. Possible chart types are line, bar, and area charts.
Enter the number of recent field values that you want displayed on the X-axis of the chart.
To display the chart page for a field:
Step 2 Click Chart. The chart window appears, as shown in Figure 4-3.
