Follow these step-by-step instructions to quickly set up IP/TV and begin defining on-demand and scheduled programs.
IP/TV has three separate components: IP/TV Content Manager, IP/TV Server, and IP/TV Viewer.

A sample media file is installed with IP/TV Server. If you set up the IP/TV components correctly and define the sample program in the IP/TV Content Manager, you can view the sample program in IP/TV Viewer.
Follow these steps to set up and begin using the IP/TV Server, IP/TV Content Manager, and IP/TV Viewer:
Step 1 Determine which computers you will install IP/TV Server, IP/TV Content Manager, and IP/TV Viewer on, and note the host names.
Step 2 Install IP/TV Server.
Refer to the IP/TV Administration and Configuration Guide for instructions.
Step 3 Configure IP/TV Server to receive its program information from the IP/TV Content Manager.
1 Double-click the Cisco IP/TV Server shortcut on the desktop.
2 Pull down the Settings menu and click Configure IP/TV Server.
3 In the left side of the Server tab, enter the host name of the IP/TV Content Manager.
4 Click OK.
Step 4 Install the IP/TV Content Manager.
Refer to Chapter 3 of the IP/TV Administration and Configuration Guide for instructions.
Step 5 From your browser, access the IP/TV Content Manager at the following URL: http://<contentmanagerhost>/
where contentmanagerhost is the host name of the IP/TV Content Manager.
Step 6 Define IP/TV Servers.
1 On the IP/TV Content Manager main page, click the Server Clusters link.
2 On the Server Clusters page, click the New Server link on the task bar.
3 On the New Server page, enter server information.
4 Click Add Server.
Step 7 Check server status.
1 From the IP/TV Content Manager main page, click the ServerWatch link.
2 Confirm that the server you defined is listed.
Step 8 Install IP/TV Viewer.
Refer to the IP/TV Viewer User Guide for instructions.
Step 9 Configure IP/TV Viewer to receive program information from the IP/TV Content Manager installed in step 4.
1 Double-click the IP/TV Viewer shortcut on the desktop.
2 Pull down the Settings menu and click Content Managers.
3 On the Content Managers tab, click Add Content Manager.
4 In the Primary Server pane, enter the host name of the IP/TV Content Manager.
5 Click OK twice.

Follow these steps to create an on-demand program:
Step 1 On the IP/TV Content Manager main page, click the OnDemand Programs link. The OnDemand Programs page appears.
Step 2 Click the New Program link on the task bar. The New OnDemand Program page appears.
Step 3 Enter on-demand program information.
1 In the Title field, enter Sample Program.
2 In the Multimedia Information section, click Select media file and select the file sample.avi.
3 In the Contact section, enter contact information.
4 Click Add OnDemand Program.
Step 4 View the program.
1 Open IP/TV Viewer.
2 Double-click the OnDemand Videos category.
3 Double-click Sample Program.
If you have installed the IP/TV components correctly, the sample on-demand program begins to play in the IP/TV Viewer window.
Refer to "Creating an OnDemand Program" in the IP/TV Content Manager User Guide for detailed information about on-demand programs.

Follow these steps to create a scheduled program:
Step 1 On the IP/TV Content Manager main page, click the Scheduled Programs link. The Scheduled Programs page appears.
Step 2 Click the New Program link on the task bar. The New Scheduled Programs page appears.
Step 3 Leave the Channel set to None, select Basic Media File Program, and click Create Program.
Step 4 Enter scheduled program information.
1 In the Program Name field, enter Sample Program.
2 In the Description field, enter Sample.
3 In the Schedule section, select Play Continuously.
4 In the Multimedia Information section, click Select media file and select the file sample.avi.
5 In the Contact section, enter contact information.
6 Click Create Program.
Step 5 View the program.
1 Open IP/TV Viewer.
2 Double-click the Scheduled Programs category.
3 Double-click Sample Program.
If you have installed the IP/TV components correctly, and if there is multicast connectivity, the sample scheduled program begins to play in the IP/TV Viewer Window.
