This feature module describes the new dtmf-timer-inter-digit command for the Cisco AS5300. It includes information on the benefits of the new feature, supported platforms, related documents, and so on.
This document includes the following sections:
Use the dtmf-timer-inter-digit command to specify the duration (in milliseconds) the router waits to detect the end of dual tone multifrequency (DTMF) digits. After this period, it expects no more digits to arrive and establishes the call.
The dtmf-timer-inter-digit command configures the DTMF inter-digit timer for a DS0 group.
Configures the DTMF inter-digit timer for a DS0 group to specify the duration in milliseconds the router waits to detect the end of DTMF digits before establishing the call.

See the following sections for configuration tasks for the dtmf-timer-inter-digit command feature. Each task in the list is identified as either optional or required:
| Command | Purpose | |
|---|---|---|
Step 1 | Router# conf term | Enters global configuration mode. You have entered global configuration mode when the prompt changes to |
Step 2 | Router(config)# controller T1 number | Configures a T1 controller and enters controller configuration mode. |
Step 3 | Router(config)# ds0-group channel-number | Configures channelized T1 timeslots, which enables a Cisco AS5300 modem to answer and send an analog call. |
Step 4 | Router(config)# cas-custom channel | Customizes E1 R2 signaling parameters for a particular E1 channel group on a channelized E1 line. |
Step 5 | Router(conf-ctrl-cas)# dtmf-timer-inter-digit milliseconds | Configures the DTMF inter-digit timer for a DS0 group. |
| Command | Purpose | |
|---|---|---|
Step 1 | Router# show running-config | Displays the configuration information currently running on the terminal. |
The following example sets the DTMF inter-digit timer value to 250 milliseconds:
Router(config)# controller T1 2 Router(config-controll)# ds0-group 2 timeslots 4-10 type e&m-fgb dtmf dnis Router(config-controll)# cas-custom 2 Router(conf-ctrl-cas)# dtmf-timer-inter-digit 250 ! Router# show running-config ! controller T1 2 ds0-group 2 timeslots 4-10 type e&m-fgb dtmf dnis cas-custom 2 dtmf-inter-digit-timer 250 ! end
This section documents new and modified commands. All other commands used with these features are documented in the Cisco IOS Release 12.1 command references.
To configure the DTMF inter-digit timer for a DS0 group, use the dtmf-timer-inter-digit T1 controller configuration command, cas-custom mode. Use the no form of this command to restore the timer to its default value.
dtmf-timer-inter-digit milliseconds
Syntax Description
milliseconds Sets the DTMF inter-digit timer duration in milliseconds. Valid range is 250 to 3,000. The default is 3,000 milliseconds.
Defaults
3,000 milliseconds
Command Modes
T1 controller configuration, cas-custom mode

Usage Guidelines
Use the dtmf-timer-inter-digit command to specify the duration in milliseconds the router waits to detect the end of DTMF digits. After this period, it expects no more digits to arrive and establishes the call.
Examples
The following example sets the DTMF inter-digit timer value to 250 milliseconds:
Router(config)# controller T1 2 Router(config-controll)# ds0-group 2 timeslots 4-10 type e&m-fgb dtmf dnis Router(config-controll)# cas-custom 2 Router(conf-ctrl-cas)# dtmf-timer-inter-digit 250
Related Commands
cas-custom Customizes E1 R2 signaling parameters for a particular E1 channel group on a channelized E1 line. ds0-group Configures channelized T1 timeslots, which enables a Cisco AS5300 modem to answer and send an analog call.
Command
Description
DS0digital signal level 0. Framing specification used in transmitting digital signals over a single channel at 64-kbps on a T1 facility.
DTMFdual tone multifrequency. Use of two simultaneous voice-band tones for dialing (such as touch tone).
