Support for Clearing Modem Event Logs

A history of modem events is automatically maintained for manageable modems on Cisco AS5200 and Cisco AS5300 access servers. The clear modem log subcommand of the clear modem command clears, or deletes, the events in those modem logs.

Configuration Tasks

To clear the modem history events performed on a manageable modem or group of modems, use the clear modem log EXEC command.
Command Purpose

Router#clear modem log [slot/port | group 
group-number]

Clears the modem event log of stored activity.

clear modem log

To clear modem logs of events, use the clear modem log EXEC command.

clear modem log [slot/port | group group-number]

Syntax Description

slot/port

(Optional) Slot value of 0 to 2 indicates slot location.

Port value of 0 to 119 indicates port on the card.

Include the forward slash (/) when entering this variable. For example, 1/1 is a valid slot/port value. If this argument is not specified, event logs for all connected modems are cleared.

group group-number

(Optional) Clears the modem logs for a group of modems. The group-number argument is the number of a modem group you have previously created, from 1 to 200. If this number is not specified, event logs for all modems in the access server are cleared.

Examples

The following example of the clear modem log command with no arguments empties the modem event log for all modems:

clear modem log 
Clear (delete) all modem logs? [confirm]
 

The following example of the clear modem log command with a slot/port argument empties the modem event log for the manageable modem at slot 2, port 1:

clear modem log 2/1
Clear (delete) modem log 2/1?[confirm]
 
show modem log 2/1

Resets the hardware for one or more manageable modems on an access server or router. clear modem log is a subcommand of clear modem.

show modem log

Displays a high-level performance report for all the modems or a single modem.
