This feature adds a time-of-day service to the cable headend system.
Standalone cable headend systems can obtain the correct time of day from larger systems as part of an low-maintenance, background function.
Time server support is restricted to service over UDP.

To configure the time-of-day service simply configure the cable time server.

This section documents new commands. All other commands used with this feature are documented in the Cisco IOS Release 12.0 command references.
To enable the time-of-day server, enter the cable time-server global CONFIG command. To disable the time-of-day service function, enter the no form of this command.
cable time-server [enable | disable]
enable | Starts the time-of-day server as a background task. |
disable | Stops the time-of-day server. |
