Time Server Functionality

Feature Overview

This feature adds a time-of-day service to the cable headend system.

Benefits

Standalone cable headend systems can obtain the correct time of day from larger systems as part of an low-maintenance, background function.

Restrictions

Time server support is restricted to service over UDP.

To configure the time-of-day service simply configure the cable time server.

Command Reference

This section documents new commands. All other commands used with this feature are documented in the Cisco IOS Release 12.0 command references.

cable time-server

To enable the time-of-day server, use the cable time-server global CONFIG command. Use the no form of this command to disable the time-of-day service function.

cable time-server [enable | disable]
no cable time-server


Syntax Description

enable

Starts the time-of-day server as a background task.

disable

Stops the time-of-day server.

Defaults
