To display the VPN Console window, enter vpnconsole & from your Solaris 2.6 UNIX system. Figure 3-1, "VPN Console," is an example of the window that appears.

The following menus are available from the VPN Console window:
To display a menu's options, click the menu title (for example, File).
To select an option under a menu, click the option. For example, to select Repository Administration under the File menu, position the mouse on the File menu to display the options and then click the Repository Administration option.
The left pane of the VPN Console window is called the hierarchy pane and contains the hierarchy tree. The right pane of the VPN Console window is the data pane, the display area for information requested through the menu task bar or through the hierarchy tree. Next to items in the hierarchy pane are icons called the open-close icons. You can click on the icon to toggle it between open and closed. See Figure 3-2, "Panes and Icon," for a visual representation of the panes and icon.

Figure 3-3, "File Menu," explained in detail in Chapter 4, "VPN Console: File Menu," provides a view of the File menu.

The File menu has the following options:

The Setup menu has the following options:

The Provisioning menu has the following options:

The Auditing menu has the following options:

The Monitoring menu has the following options:

The Tools menu has the following options:

The Help menu has the option About VPN Solutions Center.
In the left pane, the hierarchy pane, of the VPN Console window is a tree of information, known as the hierarchy tree, as shown in Figure 3-10, "VPN Console."

The VPN Console window allows access to information about the following:
Within this tree, clicking on the open-close icon that appears to the left of each node allows you to toggle between the expanded or collapsed view of that node.
The information in Device Inventory is similar to Setup > Create Targets From Router Configurations from the menu task bar, see Chapter 5, "VPN Console: Setup Menu."
In the VPN Console window, you can click the open-close icon of Device Inventory or double-click the word Device Inventory itself (VPN Console > Device Inventory), to get results similar to what appears in Figure 3-11, "Device Inventory."

You can then click the open-close icon of Targets or double-click the word Targets itself (VPN Console > Device Inventory > Targets), to get results similar to what appears in Figure 3-12, "Targets."

You can then click the open-close icon of Networks or double-click the word Networks itself (VPN Console > Device Inventory > Targets > Networks), to get results similar to what appears in Figure 3-13, "Networks."

You can right click entries in the hierarchy tree and get additional choices and information.
The information in VPN Inventory is similar to Setup > New Provider Administrative Domain, Setup > New VPN Customer, and Setup > New VPN Definition from the menu task bar, see Chapter 5, "VPN Console: Setup Menu."
In the VPN Console window, you can click the open-close icon of VPN Inventory or double-click the word VPN Inventory itself (VPN Console > VPN Inventory), to get the results that appear in Figure 3-14, "VPN Inventory."

You can then click the open-close icon of Provider Administrative Domains, VPN Customers, or VPNs or double-click the words Provider Administrative Domains, VPN Customers, or VPNs (VPN Console > VPN Inventory > Provider Administrative Domains or VPN Customers or VPNs). Figure 3-15, "VPN Inventory Choices," shows the results of choosing all the VPN Inventory choices.

You can click one level deeper to get the region and site information about the service providers and customers, respectively, as shown in Figure 3-16, "Provider Administrative Domains, VPN Customers, and VPNs."

You can right click entries in the hierarchy tree and get additional choices and information.
