CiscoWorks for Switched Internetworks (CWSI) is a set of three network management applications: CiscoView, VlanDirector, and TrafficDirector.
This booklet provides the following information and procedures:
Before you install CWSI 1.3, make sure your system has enough disk space and meets the requirements listed in Tables 1 and 2.
| Requirement | Specification |
|---|---|
| Hardware | IBM PC-compatible 486 (586 Pentium processor recommended)
SVGA color monitor and graphics adapter Windows NT-compatible CD ROM drive Network driver interface specification/Open Data Link Interface (NDIS/ODI)-compliant network adapter card Mouse or mouse-compatible pointing device |
| Software Operating System | Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 |
| Available Disk Space | 110 MB for full installation |
| RAM | 32 MB |
| Network management software (not required) | CastleRock SNMPc Version 4.1n with HP OpenView emulation support |
| Component | Disk Space |
|---|---|
| Base | 400 KB |
| Each switch | 5 KB |
| Each module per switch | 20 KB |
| Each VLAN | 2 KB |
If an example network contains 100 switches with 3 modules per switch and 500 VLANs, the following formula calculates the space required:
400 KB + (100 x 5 KB) + (300 x 20 KB) + (500 x 2 KB) = 7850 KB
Before you install CWSI 1.3, do the following:
If you already have CWSI 1.2 is installed, you need to remove it before installing CWSI 1.3. To remove CWSI 1.2, you need to uninstall VlanDirector, CiscoWorks Windows, and TrafficDirector in the specified order, as follows:
Your VlanDirector files are now removed, and VlanDirector is removed from the Windows NT registry.
All CiscoWorks Windows files are now removed.
All TrafficDirector files are now removed.
regedit
Use the instructions in the following sections to install each application in CWSI 1.3:
Follow these steps to install the CiscoView component of CWSI 1.3:

If the following severe error occurs, click OK and remove CWSI 1.2 using the instructions in the "Removing CWSI 1.2" section before restarting the installation:

Use the installation instructions provided in the TrafficDirector Windows Software Configuration Guide. Note the following exceptions:
You can start CWSI 1.3 from the Windows NT menu bar or from your network management application. From the Windows NT menu bar, select Start>Programs>application_name.
You can install additional device support or update existing device support after you have installed CWSI 1.3. You can add device packages from the CD (if the desired device package is contained on the version of the CD you have), or you can add device packages from Cisco Connection Online (CCO).
If you no longer need support for a device, or you mistakenly add a device, you can remove it using the Uninstall Package option.
To install devices after CWSI 1.3 is installed on your system:
To add support for devices not contained on the CD ROM or to update device support, access CCO. CCO, formerly Cisco Information Online (CIO), is the Cisco Systems online support channel. Refer to the "Cisco Connection Online" section for details on how to access CCO.
Instructions on how to download additional devices for CiscoView are in the Software Image Library's Enterprise Network Management section on CCO or on the anonymous ftp server (ftp.cisco.com). For specific instructions on accessing CCO, refer to the quick reference card attached to the CWSI 1.3 registration card.
To remove a device after it has been installed, perform the following steps:
Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM, a member of the Cisco Connection Family, is updated monthly. Therefore, it might be more up to date than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Documentation CD-ROM, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. The CD-ROM package is available as a single package or as an annual subscription. You can also access Cisco documentation on the World Wide Web at http://www.cisco.com, http://www-china.cisco.com, or http://www-europe.cisco.com.
Cisco Connection Online (CCO), formerly Cisco Information Online (CIO), is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional content and services.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco's customers and business partners. CCO services include product information, software updates, release notes, technical tips, the Bug Navigator, configuration notes, brochures, descriptions of service offerings, and download access to public and authorized files.
CCO serves a wide variety of users through two interfaces that are updated and enhanced simultaneously--a character-based version and a multimedia version that resides on the World Wide Web (WWW). The character-based CCO supports Zmodem, Kermit, Xmodem, FTP, Internet e-mail, and fax download options, and is excellent for quick access to information over lower bandwidths. The WWW version of CCO provides richly formatted documents with photographs, figures, graphics, and video, as well as hyperlinks to related information.
You can access CCO in the following ways:

cco.cisco.com.
cco-help@cisco.com. For additional information, contact cco-team@cisco.com.
