Displaying Host Statistics

Displaying Host Statistics

TrafficDirector includes two single-segment, single-domain applications:

Typically, you will use a multisegment, multidomain tool to focus on the portion of your network you want to monitor, then use the single-segment, single-domain applications to zero in on the portion you want to examine more closely.

Using Host Zoom

You can launch the Host Zoom application from the TopN Talkers or All Talkers window. Use Host Zoom to see more information about TopN Talkers or All Talkers with which a selected host is communicating. When you use Host Zoom for TopN Talkers, the default display is graphical and shows only one of seven host traffic criteria at a time. When you use Host Zoom for All Talkers, the default display is tabular and shows all seven host traffic criteria.

Launching from TopN Talkers

To zoom in on an agent displayed in the TopN Talkers window, click the bar graph that represents the agent. The Host Zoom window (Figure 26-1) opens.

Changing to a Tabular Display

To change the Host Zoom display from graphical to tabular, select Applications>Host Zoom (Text). The Host Zoom window displays the same information in a tabular display (Figure 26-2). The window lists the addresses of all the hosts with which the selected host is currently communicating.

Changing the View

The Host Zoom window for TopN Talkers displays Utilization as the default tabular display; however, other display options are available. To change the default display, select an option from the View menu. Table 26-1 lists the available options.

Table  26-1: Host Zoom Display Options
Option Display
Packets Number of packets per selected interval.
Bytes Number of bytes per selected interval.
Utilization Utilization for selected interval.
Errors Number of errored packets for selected interval.

Changing the Sort Options

The Host Zoom window for TopN Talkers displays sorts on Address Order by default for the tabular display; however, other sort options are available. To change the default sort option, select an option from the Sort menu. Table 26-2 lists the available options.

Table  26-2: Host Zoom Sort Options
Option Sorts By
Address Host address.
Utilization In Utilization inbound to the host during the last sample period.
Utilization Out Utilization outbound from the host during the last sample period.
Packets In Cumulative number of packets inbound to the host.
Packets Out Cumulative number of packets outbound from the host.
Bytes In Cumulative number of bytes inbound to the host.
Bytes Out Cumulative number of bytes outbound from the host.
Errors In Cumulative number of errored packets inbound to the host.
Errors Out Cumulative number of errored packets outbound from the host.

Changing to a Graphical Display

To change the Host Zoom display from a tabular display to a graphical display, select Applications>Host Zoom (Graph). The Host Zoom window displays the same information in a graphical format.

Changing the Sort Option

The Host Zoom window for All Talkers sorts on Packets Out by default for the graphical display; however, other sort options are available. To change the default sort option, select an option from the Sort menu. Table 26-3 lists the available options.

Packets In Cumulative number of packets inbound to the host
Packets Out Cumulative number of packets outbound from the host
Bytes In Cumulative number of bytes inbound to the host
Bytes Out Cumulative number of bytes outbound from the host
Errors In Cumulative number of errored packets inbound to the host
Errors Out Cumulative number of errored packets outbound from the host

Using Host History

You can launch the Host History application directly from the All Talkers window. Host History uses a host history graph to display statistics (utilization, packets, bytes, destinations, and errors) about a specific host for a selected agent and domain (Figure 26-3).

Changing the View Option

The Host History window for All Talkers displays Utilization as the default; however, other display options are available. To change the default display, select an option from the View menu. Table 26-4 lists the available options.

Changing the Display Option

The Host History window default display is a line graph. To change the default display, select an option from the Format menu. Table 26-5 lists the available options.
