Finding Information in the Network Map

Finding Information in the Network Map

When you install CWSI, it discovers your network starting from the seed device name you specified during installation and displays a map of your network in the CWSI Map window.

While using CWSI, you will often need to locate devices and links, search for specific devices, and create bookmarks to locate specific areas and views of your network. For example, you might find it useful to display and work with a specific view of a VTP domain.

Identifying Devices and Links in the Map

To display the name or address of a device or link, move the cursor over the device or link.

You can display all link or address names:

Locating and Searching for Devices and Links

Use the CWSI Find window and the CWSI Filter and Highlight function to search for and locate devices in your network.

Filter and Highlight

The Filter and Highlight function is useful if you want to highlight a specific set of devices. For example, if you are deciding where to add a device to your network, you might want to check where the existing Catalyst 5000 switches are located.
