Making Changes to the CWSI Network Map

You can modify the CWSI network map to change the location of device icons or links, add bookmarks to save a specific map display, save maps, remove devices from the network map, and add and remove background images to your network maps.

Moving an Icon or Link

You can move an icon or link by dragging it to a different location. To save the changed network layout after moving icons or links, from the CWSI network map select File>Save Layout.

Adding and Removing a Background Image

You can add a background image such as a campus or geographic map to your network.

Adding a Background Image

To add a background image to the CWSI Map window, follow these steps:

Step 1 Select Bookmarks>Add Background Image.

The CWSI - Add Background window opens.


Step 2 In the Filename URL window, click Browse to display the list of images and maps that shipped with your CWSI software or enter the URL for the image you want to add.

Step 3 Select the map or image you want to add to your network map.

Step 4 Click Open.

Step 5 In the Filename URL window, click OK.

The selected image is displayed as the background to your map.


Removing a Background Image

To remove a background image, follow these steps:

Step 1 From the CWSI Map window, select Bookmarks>Edit.

The CWSI - Edit Bookmarks window opens.


Step 2 Select the image or map you want to delete.

Step 3 Click Delete to remove the image.

Removing a Device from the Network Map

You might want to remove a device from the network map in the following circumstances:

To remove a device from the network map, follow these steps:

Step 1 Select a device to be removed from the network map by clicking on it.

Step 2 From the CWSI Map window, select Edit>Delete Device.

The device is removed from the network map.


The device will be redisplayed the next time you run the discovery process. It still exists in the network.
