This preface describes who should read Getting Started with CWSI, how it is organized, and its document conventions.

Documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM is updated monthly. Who Should Read This Publication

This publication is designed for network managers who are responsible for the initial setup and configuration of virtual LANs (VLANs) using VlanDirector, one of the CiscoWorks for Switched Internetworks (CWSI) applications. Network managers should be familiar with the following topics:

Document Conventions

Network management interfaces use the following conventions:

• Command paths in a graphical user interface (GUI) are indicated as follows: Action>Reports>Switch Detail

• On NT systems, use the left mouse button to select and drag an icon to a new location.

• On UNIX systems, use the middle mouse button to select and drag an icon to a new location.

• Screen displays might differ slightly from those included in this guide depending on the window system you are using. For example, Windows NT screens are different from HP OpenView screens.
