Installing COPS QoS Policy Manager

Installing COPS QoS Policy Manager

Before you install COPS QoS Policy Manager (QPM-COPS), ensure that the systems meet the requirements for running QPM-COPS. These sections describe the requirements and procedures for installing QPM-COPS and QPM-PDP (standalone PDP):

Note The QPM-PDP (standalone PDP) product must be purchased and installed separately from the basic QPM-COPS 1.0 package.

Note For information on uninstalling QPM-COPS, see Appendix G.

Hardware and Software Requirements

Table 3-1 shows the hardware and software requirements for installing QPM-COPS and QPM-PDP.

Planning for QPM-COPS Deployment

A typical QPM-COPS installation includes multiple PDPs spread over the network domain to scale with the number of network devices. PDPs should be installed close to their assigned devices.

Installing the Complete QPM-COPS

The complete COPS QoS Policy Manager includes the QPM-COPS servers, the user interface for all QPM-COPS applications, and the Policy Server (PDP). The "Full Installation" is usually done so that the customer has a complete QPM system (applications, servers, and a PDP) on a single machine. (If you only want to install a PDP, see Installing a PDP.)

Note CD One must be installed before you install QPM-COPS. See Installing and Setting Up CD One on Windows NT.

Before You Begin

Note QPM-COPS should not be installed on the same server as CiscoWorks2000 Campus Manager.

QPM-COPS should not be installed on a remote network drive.

Do not install the Cisco Network Registrar (CNR) application on the system where QPM is installed.

Procedure

Step 1 Install the "Full Installation" product CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

Step 2 If the CD's autorun feature fails to start the installation process, select Start>Run, and enter d:\copsqpm.exe, where d: is the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive. The following page appears on which you have three choices:

Note Notice that this CD contains the Full Product Installation as indicated in Figure 3-2.

Step 3 Click Install Product.

The following page appears:

Step 4 After the Welcome screen, the system checks the following:

If there are any issues that prevent the system from continuing the installation, you will be instructed how to proceed.

Step 5 Follow the on-screen instructions.

You must reboot your computer before you can use QPM-COPS.
