Installing CTM ConnectWay

All CTM ConnectWay clients ---namely the CTM server, the CTM client, or a third-party SNMP network manager---require a static IP route for each Cisco ONS 1530x NE through the CTM ConnectWay server.

During installation, the following components are installed by default:

Tips Refer to the Cisco Transport Manager Operations Guide and other technical notes to plan your data communications network (DCN) connectivity and network deployment.

Installing CTM ConnectWay

To install CTM ConnectWay on your Sun SPARC Solaris 2.6 workstation:

    1. Start a cmdtool or a shelltool, which is listed as terminal in the CDE toolbar. (Skip this step if you are performing the installation from a directly connected X-terminal session.)

    2. Log in as the root user.

    3. Change directories to /cdrom/cdrom0/ctms and enter the following command:

    ./ctmsetup.sh

The ctmsetup.sh shell script checks the directories in the PATH environment variable to verify that you have JRE version 1.2.2 installed on your workstation.

Note If JRE is not installed, the ctmsetup.sh shell script automatically installs JRE 1.2.2 in the /opt/Solaris_JRE_1.2.2 directory. If the CTM server installation starts, checks the patches, creates links, but does not continue, check the directory /usr and remove the java file.

    4. The CTM Server Installation Program screen appears. Click Next.

    5. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

    6. Enter the following user information; then, click Next:

    7. Read the software license agreement, click the Accept all terms of the license check box; then, click Next.

    8. Specify where you want to install CTM ConnectWay. The default is /opt/CiscoTransportManagerServer. You can click Browse to select a different destination. After you have specified your destination, click Install.

If the installation directory does not exist, allow the installation program to create the default installation directory by selecting Yes at the following prompt:
    The specified destination location, installation directory, does not exist. Would you like this location created?

    9. Specify the physical interface where you want to install the CTM ConnectWay driver. For example, specify hme0 or hme1.

    10. Enter the 20-byte, 40-character NSAP address for the CTM ConnectWay interface; then, click Next.

    11. Click Finish at the Installation Complete screen.

Starting the CTM ConnectWay Software

    1. Enter the following command:

    cd /etc/init.d

    2. If you are installing CTM ConnectWay/CLNP, use an editor to create the file CWStart in the directory /etc/init.d with the following contents; then, go to Step 3:

    #!/bin/sh
    #
    CTMSHOME=/opt/CiscoTransportManagerServer;export CTMSHOME
    cd $CTMSHOME/bin
    ./CTMIPCLNPServer -s &

If you are installing CTM ConnectWay/TL1, use an editor to create the file CWStart in the directory /etc/init.d with the following contents; then, go to Step 3:
    #!/bin/sh
    #
    CTMSHOME=/opt/CiscoTransportManagerServer;export CTMSHOME
    cd $CTMSHOME/bin
    ./CTMIPTL1Server -s &

    3. Enter the following commands:

    cd /etc/rc2.d
    ln -s /etc/init.d/CWStart S99CWStart

    4. Reboot the system. CTM ConnectWay starts automatically after rebooting.
