Overview
The Cisco Netsys Baseliner software allows you to view a graphical representation of your network and troubleshoot problem areas in it, by generating topologies and reports that are based on the actual configuration files.
Using the software, you can generate:
- a graphical on-screen display of multiple-protocol router topologies
- a graphical on-screen display of both data and router protocols
- HTML/Java reports and topologies, which can be viewed locally in your web browser or published via the internet
- a variety of network health reports, including
- integrity checks
- recent and historical configuration-file changes
- WAN links derivation
- unconnected WAN interfaces
The Cisco Netsys Baseliner software uses your actual router configuration files as the basis for its topology views and reports. This provides a much more accurate and detailed picture of your network than could be obtained by using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to poll devices on the network. The configuration files provide a far richer set of information, which is then used to build the multi-protocol topologies. This allows you to visually navigate your network as it actually exists.
The software offers the following features:
- Visual queries, providing instant identification of device or network types with addresses, protocol coverage, and conflicts
- Pop-up menus, accessing configuration information on routers and circuits
- Search tool which can quickly locate and zoom in on any supported device.
- Reports that detail your network's configuration problems, "change histories" and router configuration information, and summaries which allow you to "drill down" for even more detailed information.
- A filtering mechanism, which allows you to view just the information you want to see.
The Cisco Netsys Baseliner software isolates more than 100 common yet hard-to-locate configuration problems within and between routers and details the nature of the misconfiguration and the exact device or interface where it occurred.
The program also offers the ability to conduct off-line analysis so that you can experiment with various topology changes to quickly see what happens without risk to the live network, thereby avoiding costly network configuration problems.
Key features of the Cisco Netsys Baseliner software are:
Rapidly identifies more than 100 types of severe and warning-level problems within and between router configurations.
Graphically displays physical and logical connections between routers and protocols, enabling network administrators to see the big picture instantly and accurately.
Ensures accurate representation of all protocols that are configured on your network's routers.
Provides instant identification of device or network types, with addresses, protocol coverage and conflicts.
Makes the full power of reports about your network and protocol-specific topology views available to operations staff and managers.
