This guide describes the tasks and commands necessary to set up and operate the CiscoWorks Blue Internetwork Status Monitor (ISM) for SOLVE:Netmaster product.
This guide is intended for SOLVE:Netmaster operators who are responsible for monitoring Cisco routers in a Systems Network Architecture (SNA) environment. This guide assumes that you are familiar with the basic concepts and terminology used in internetworking and that you understand the network topology and protocols.
This guide is divided into the following chapters and appendix:
- "Overview of CiscoWorks Blue ISM" provides information about how ISM works and the features and benefits of the ISM product.
- "Operating ISM" provides an introduction to the ISM program and its architecture to help you understand the basic program functions and operations, including starting ISM, navigating between the ISM panels, and learning about the primary operating panels.
- "Setting Up the ISM Environment" describes the tasks involved in setting up the global options of the ISM program that define how the overall functions of the ISM program will be implemented, including enabling the management applications to be supported, setting up global monitoring options, and defining user profiles.
- "Monitoring Resources in ISM" provides information about how to monitor router resources in remote SOLVE:Netmaster domains by using the ISM : Status Summary panel.
- "Monitoring Routers" describes procedures for setting up and operating the ISM program to monitor routers.
- "Monitoring Interfaces" describes procedures for setting up and operating the ISM program to monitor the interfaces that are installed in your network routers.
- "Monitoring CMCCs" describes procedures for setting up and operating the ISM program to monitor the Cisco Mainframe Channel Connections (CMCCs) between the mainframe and the router.
- "Monitoring DSPU Resources" describes procedures for setting up and operating ISM to monitor routers that are defined as downstream physical unit (DSPU) resources.
- "Monitoring SNA Session History"describes procedures for tracing duplicate PUs in different SNA sessions.
- "Network Management Vector Transport Alerts" provides tables categorized by protocol type of the NMVT alerts generated by Cisco routers.
This guide uses basic conventions to represent text and table information.
Command descriptions in this guide use the following conventions:
- Commands and keywords are in boldface font.
- Arguments for which you supply values are in italic font.
- Elements in square brackets ([ ]) are optional.
