Upgrading to IPM Release 2.1

Upgrading to IPM Release 2.1

This chapter provides information on upgrading from previous releases of IPM to IPM Release 2.1. It includes the following sections:

Note For IPM Release 2.1, the minimum required version for Cisco IOS software release 11.2-based source routers is release 11.2(18).

Upgrading from IPM Release 2.0 or Later

If you are currently running a version of IPM Release 2.0 prior to IPM 2.0.6, you must upgrade to IPM 2.0.6 before you can install IPM Release 2.1. When you install IPM 2.1, the IPM database and seed files from IPM 2.0 and later are preserved. This data is automatically backed up as part of the installation process and then the data is converted to the format used by IPM 2.1.

To download IPM 2.0.6:

Step 1 From your browser, go to the IPM Software Home Page using the following URL:

ftp://ftp.cisco.com/cisco/netmgmt/ipm/ipmIndex.html

The Web Server Home Page for the IPM Client Software is displayed.

Step 2 Click Download IPM 2.0.6 Super Patch to download the patches necessary to upgrade to IPM 2.0.6.

Step 3 Install IPM Release 2.1. Follow the installation instructions in the "Installing IPM on Solaris" chapter to install the IPM server and IPM client on a Solaris workstation.

Step 4 (Optional) Follow the installation instructions in the "Installing the IPM Client on Windows" chapter to install the IPM client on a Windows workstation.

Note The upgrade process converts the hourly data only. Daily, weekly, and monthly data is automatically generated when you run IPM Release 2.1. When you run IPM Release 2.1, it might take up to 24 hours before you can see the derived data that has been converted from a previous release.

Upgrading from IPM Release 1.0

If you are currently running IPM Release 1.0, you must upgrade to IPM Release 2.0 before you can install IPM Release 2.1. Refer to the "Upgrading From IPM Software Release 1.0" chapter of the Internetwork Performance Monitor Installation Guide, Software Release 2.0 for detailed instructions on upgrading your from IPM Release 1.0 to IPM Release 2.0.

After you have upgraded to IPM Release 2.0, you can install IPM Release 2.1 on your system and your data will be converted to the format used by IPM Release 2.1.
