This chapter describes the steps you must follow to upgrade from version 1.2 of Cisco Info Center to version 2.0. This chapter contains the following sections:
This section describes the system requirements for upgrading from Cisco Info Center 1.2 to Cisco Info Center 2.0.
Cisco Info Center can run on Solaris 2.6 or 2.7
The host that will be upgraded to Cisco Info Center 2.0 must be Sun Ultra II or higher workstation running Solaris 2.6 or 2.7. The host should meet the following requirements, depending on which components are selected for the upgrade.
If you are upgrading the Info Server component, the host should have:
If you will upgrade an existing Info Server installation and add the Policy Manager component that is available with Cisco Info Center 2.0, the host should have:
If you will upgrade an existing Info Server installation on a host that is running Cisco WAN Manager, the host should have:
If you will upgrade a host that is running only the Admin Desktop component, the host should have:
To upgrade from Cisco Info Center 1.2 to Cisco Info Center 2.0 running a single-system architecture, you must complete the following tasks:
Complete these steps to shut down Cisco Info Center 1.2:
Step 2 Enter the following command:
host% /opt/Omnibus/bin/nco_pa_shutdown
You are prompted for a login password:

Step 6 Stop any Info Center processes that are running using the following command for each process:
host% kill -9 <pid>
where pid is the process ID of the process that you want to stop.
Complete these steps to run the Cisco Info Center 1.2 installation program for the single-system architecture.
Complete these steps to mount the CD-ROM.
Step 2 Insert the installation CD-ROM into the workstation's CD-ROM drive.
Step 3 The CD-ROM should mount automatically if the host is running the Solaris Volume daemon (vold) as /cdrom/infocenter.
Step 4 If this daemon is not running, mount the CD-ROM by issuing the following command:
host# mount -o ro -F hsfs </dev/dsk/device> /cdrom
where </dev/dsk/device> is the CD-ROM drive device entry.

In order to upgrade successfully, the Cisco Info Center licenses must be assessable to the host on which you are upgrading CIC. Complete these steps to verify that the Cisco Info Center licenses are installed.
licensehost% /usr/bin/ps -ef | grep elmd
Step 2 If the license server is not running, issue the following command to start it:
licensehost% /opt/Omnibus/bin/nco_start_license
Step 3 If the license server is on the same host on which the Info Server is running, issue the following command to verify that it is running:
hostname% /usr/bin/ps -ef | grep elmd
Step 4 If the license server is not running, issue the following commands to start it:
hostname% /opt/Omnibus/bin/nco_start_license
hostname% setenv NCO_ELMHOST @licensehost
Although the Policy Manager and the STG components can be installed automatically during the upgrade procedure, you will need to run the nco_config configuration utility manually after the upgrade to configure the STG and Policy Manager components.
Note the following when running nco_config after an upgrade.
1. When you run nco_config on an Info Server host where you have added Policy Manager, you will already have an existing Info Server Configuration. Therefore, if there is an existing configuration, nco_config will discover this configuration and prompt you as to whether to overwrite it.
2. If Policy Manager is detected on the Cisco Info Center host, you will be automatically prompted to configure it when you run nco_config.
3. If you have added the Syslog Trap Generator component to an existing installation, you must manually run nco_config to configure the Info Mediator component.
If you are upgrading a host configured with the multi-system architecture, refer to the following sections in "Installing and Configuring the Multi-System Architecture."
1. For information on configuring the STG component, see the "Configuring the Syslog Trap Generator Component" section.
2. For important information on configuring the Policy Manager component and starting it after installation, refer to the following sections.
If you are upgrading a host configured with the single-system architecture, refer to the following sections in "Installing and Configuring the Single-System Architecture."
1. For information on configuring the STG component, see the "Single System ArchitectureConfiguring the Syslog Trap Generator" section.
2. For information on configuring the STG component for use with Policy Manager, see the following sections:
For further information pertaining to the upgrade, refer to the Release Notes for Cisco Info Center 2.0 document.
