This section described how to edit the connections data file that is used to create the interfaces file for Cisco Info Center communications. The connections data file is called:
$OMNIHOME/etc/omni.dat
It is recommended you use the Server Editor window to edit this file. The omni.dat file format is designed for use with the Server Editor window, therefore, the format of the file does not suit command line editing. See the Cisco Info Center Installation and Configuration guide for more information.
However, there may be occasions where you need to edit the connections file directly, for example on systems that do not have a graphical interface. The following sections describe how to edit this file and generate the interfaces file.
The format of the $OMNIHOME/etc/omni.dat file is:
<servername> <hostname> <portnumber>
Where <servername> is the name of the ObjectServer or Process Control agent, <hostname> is the host name of the machine where that server or agent is running and <portnumber> is the port number allocated to that server or agent. Where more than one process is running on one machine, the <portnumber> should be unique for each process.
For example, this file could contain the following:
NCOMS
{
Primary: darkstar 4100
Backup: mario.dev.net 4100
Backup: tribble 4100
}
NCO_PA
{
Primary: darkstar 4200
}
NCO_GATE
{
Primary: darkstar 4300
}
Edit the $OMNIHOME/etc/omni.dat file using this format and add the correct host name.
To generate a $OMNIHOME/etc/interfaces file, specify the following command:
host% $OMNIHOME/bin/nco_igen
To generate a $OMNIHOME/etc/interfaces.solaris2 file, suitable for Solaris 2.x systems, specify the following command:
host% $OMNIHOME/bin/nco_igen -arch solaris2
The -arch option takes solaris2 as its parameter. You can also use the java parameter to generate the interfaces file used specifically for Java support.
To generate all the architecture specific interfaces files and the Java interfaces file with one command, specify the command:
host% $OMNIHOME/bin/nco_igen -all
