Using ACL Manager describes how to use the Access Control List (ACL) Manager, a software tool for the management of access control lists on Cisco routers. This preface describes who should read Using ACL Manager and outlines the document conventions used in this manual.

This publication is written for network operators, network administrators, and system administrators. To use the ACL Manager application, you should have a basic understanding of operation, management and the configuration of your network. You should understand the basic ACL structure and configuration and the concept of network and service definitions.
This manual is organized as follows:
Chapter 1, "ACL Manager Overview," provides an overview of the product and introduces you to some of the features of ACL Manager.
Chapter 2, "ACL Definitions and Uses," describes ACLs, ACL Templates, and ACL Uses.
Chapter 3, "Getting Started," introduces general setup tasks and starting ACL Manager.
Chapter 4, "Viewing and Editing ACLs," describes how to manipulate and edit ACL entries.
Chapter 5, "Using the Class Manager," describes the Class Manager feature and provides information on setting up network and service classes.
Chapter 6, "Using the Template Manager," describes how to use the ACL Template Manager to define policies for traffic filtering.
Chapter 7, "ACL Manager Use Wizards," describes the three ACL Manager Use Wizards available for creating ACLs and ACL Uses from Templates and ACLs.
Chapter 8, "Scheduling and Downloading," describes how to use the Downloader and Job Browser tools to schedule jobs for downloading ACLs to devices.
Chapter 9, "Optimizing ACLs," describes how to use the Optimizer and Hits Optimizer tools.
ACL Manager online help provides task-oriented and context-sensitive help that is available from every window that contains a Help button.
The online help system includes an index. It is organized the same way as the ACL Manager documentation set so that you need learn only once where to find a specific piece of information.
