Adding External Connections to the CiscoWorks2000 Server

You can add connections from the CiscoWorks2000 Server to external web-based applications, such as Cisco Connection Online (CCO) or other web-based applications used by your company.

These sections assist you in creating new connections and using existing external connections on the CiscoWorks2000 Server:

Creating and Installing External Connections

You can create and install connections that link CiscoWorks2000 to external applications by using Management Connection (see Table 6-1). A connection consists of a set of links to the application URLs and application support information.

You can create your own connection or import an existing file. When creating a connection, you define folders and folder items that link to the application functions.

Before you install a connection, Management Connection ensures that folder and item names do not conflict with names on the local installation, and verifies that the URLs are active. After a connection is installed, the newly defined folders and items are added to the Management Connection drawer.

Using CCO Connections

CiscoWorks2000 incorporates links to common resources available on Cisco Connection Online (CCO).

CCO Tools

In Management Connection > CCO Tools, CiscoWorks2000 provides links to frequently used CCO tools, such as Technical tips, troubleshooting information, a bug toolkit, open forum, and Technical Assistance Center (TAC) access. You need a CCO username and password to use these tools.

Case Management

Case Management enables troubleshooting and network maintenance information transfer between your network and the Cisco TAC. This tool extends the existing CCO web tools by automatically collecting network device statistics from your network to attach to the case description.

Device Navigator

All Cisco routers and access servers running Cisco IOS Release 11.0(6) or later have an HTTP server. This is an embedded subcomponent of the Cisco IOS software. With Device Navigator, you can connect to the HTTP service running on a Cisco router or a Cisco access server.
