Read Me First

The Routed WAN Management Solution (RWAN) on Windows NT consists of six CD-ROMs.


Note   You must install the CD-ROM discs in this package in the correct order and on a system that meets specific requirements. You must configure client systems and some applications before use.

The Routed WAN Management Solution Bundle contains:

You must install the software in this bundle on systems that meet specific requirements. You must configure client systems and some applications before use. The tables on the following pages shows basic requirements, installation order, and the required and recommended configuration tasks. For step-by-step procedures and information about all features, refer to the online help and the documents shown in the table.

Minimum Server Requirements

Table 1 lists the minimum server requirements for each application and combinations of applications.

If used as a client, a browser is required (refer to Table 2)

1If you are not using embedded SQL server for Trend Reporter, you must have Microsoft SQL server v. 6.5 or higher and 32-bit Microsoft SQL client. Winsock-compliant TCP/IP stack v 1.1 or higher.
2Virtual memory should be double the RAM. If your server has more than the minimum RAM, you must have more than the minimum virtual memory.
3Do not install on a FAT file system.
4Service Pack 6 is not supported.

Minimum Client Requirements

Table 2 shows the minimum client requirements for a network with 950 or fewer devices. For information on configuring client systems, refer to Installing and Setting Up CiscoWorks2000 CD One Second Edition on Windows NT.

    • IBM PC-compatible computer with 300 MHz Pentium processor running Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, or Windows 98.

    • Solaris SPARCstation or Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris 2.6.

    • HP-UX workstation running HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0.

    • IBM RS/6000 workstations running AIX 4.3.3

  • Color monitor with video card set to 256 colors.

Memory (RAM)

128 MB

Browser

One of the following browsers:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or 5.01.
    Java Virtual Machine (JVM) version 5.0.0.3186 or newer, current shipping version. To verify the JVM version, select View> Java Console.

  • Netscape Navigator 4.61 or 4.7 (Windows NT, Windows 95/98, Solaris 2.5.1 or 2.6, HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0, AIX 4.33).

Order of Installation

Before upgrading any of the software in this package:

Table 3 shows the exact order in which the software in this bundle has to be installed. Before you begin the installation process, ensure that the recommended hardware requirements are met.

    1. Install CiscoWorks2000 CD One (Second Edition)

Refer to the Release Notes for CiscoWorks2000 CD One (Second Edition) on Windows NT for any last-minute updates to the installation instructions.

    2. Prepare to use CD One

    3. Install Resource Manager Essentials (3.1) on the server

Refer to the Release Notes for Resource Manager Essentials (3.1) on Windows NT for any last-minute updates to the installation instructions.

    4. Prepare to use Resource Manager Essentials

Refer to Chapter 2- Preparing to Use Essentials Applications in Installing and Setting up Resource Manager Essentials (3.1) on Windows NT

    5. Install ACL Manager on the server

Refer to Installing Access Control List Manager on NT and Solaris.

    6. Perform an upgrade installation of ACLM 1.1 (Patch 2), on the server

Refer to the Release Notes for ACLM 1.1 (Patch 2) on Windows NT for the upgrade installation process. Details of the self-executable file are available here.

    7. Install IPM or Traffic Director

Refer to the Release Notes for Internetwork Performance Monitor Software Release 2.2 for any last-minute updates to the installation instructions.
