CFM Window Reference

CFM Window Reference

This appendix provides reference information for the following CFM windows.

CFM Server Windows

CFM Client Windows

Add Device Window

The Add Device window (Figure A-1) is displayed when you click Add on the Discovery Manager window within the Server Administration window. From the Add Device window, you can specify the name or IP address and read community string for the Cisco server load balancing devices that you want to monitor.

Fields

The Add Device window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Name or IP Address

Host name or IP address of the Cisco server load balancing device to add.

Read Community

Read community string of the Cisco server load balancing device.

Buttons

The buttons in the Add Device window provide the following functions:
Button Description

OK

Closes the window and adds the specified device to the Discovery Manager window.

Cancel

Closes the window and returns to the Discovery Manager without adding a new device.

Delete Device Window

The Delete Device window (Figure A-2) is displayed when you select a device on the Discovery Manager window and click Remove. From the Delete Device window, you can confirm the deletion of the selected device.

Buttons

The buttons in the Delete Device window provide the following functions:
Button Description

OK

Deletes the specified device and returns to the Discovery Manager window.

Cancel

Closes the window and returns to the Discovery Manager without deleting the device.

Discovery Manager Window

The Discovery Manager window (Figure A-3) is displayed when you select the Discovery Manager tab on the Server Administration window. The Discovery Manager enables you to add Cisco server load balancing devices to be monitored by CFM, edit information for devices that have already been defined to CFM, or delete devices that you no longer want to monitor.

Fields

The Discovery Manager window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Device

Hostname or IP address of the device being monitored.

Read Community

Read community string for the device.

Status

Current discovery status of the device. The following values are possible:

  • Discovering---CFM is sending an SNMP command to the device to determine whether or not it is available and SNMP-enabled.

  • Not Responding---CFM did not receive a response to its SNMP request from the device.

  • Unrecognized Device---Device responded, but the device is not a Cisco server load balancing device.

  • Not In Service---Device is recognized as a Cisco server load balancing device, but the device is not participating in the load balancing system.

  • In Service---Device is recognized as a Cisco server load balancing device and is participating in the load balancing system.

  • Critical---Device was previously In Service but its community string has been changed to an invalid value.

Buttons

The buttons in the Discovery Manager window provide the following functions:
Button Description

Add

Displays the Add Device window which enables you to add a new device to be monitored.

Edit

Displays the Edit Device window which enables you to edit the read community string for a selected device.

Remove

Displays the Delete Device window which enables you to confirm the deletion of a device that you no longer want to monitor.

Edit Device Window

The Edit Device window (Figure A-4) is displayed when you select a device in the Discovery Manager window and click Edit. From the Edit Device window, you can modify the read community string for the selected device.

Fields

The Edit Device window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Name or IP Address

Host name or IP address of the selected device.

Read Community

Read community string of the selected device.

Buttons

The buttons in the Edit Device window provide the following functions:
Button Description

OK

Saves your changes, closes the window, and returns to the Discovery Manager window.

Cancel

Closes the window and returns to the Discovery Manager without saving your changes.

Preferences Window

The Preferences window (Figure A-5) is displayed when you select the Preferences tab on the Server Administration window. The Preferences window enables you to control how frequently CFM polls forwarding agents and services managers for status and statistical information.

Fields

The Preferences window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Forwarding Agents

Polling period, in seconds, for collecting data from the forwarding agents.

Services Managers

Polling period, in seconds for collecting data from the services managers.

Buttons

The buttons in the Preferences window provide the following functions:
Button Description

Reset

Resets the polling period for the forwarding agents and services managers to their previously saved settings.

Apply

Saves your changes.

CFM Main Window

The CFM Main window (Figure A-6) is displayed when you start the CFM client. The CFM Main window provides access to the major features of the CFM client. This window also provides information on the status of the Cisco server load balancing devices and their current availability.

The CFM Main window provides the following features:

Fields

The CFM Main window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Load Balancing Components

Displays a list of the types of Cisco server load balancing devices being monitored by CFM.

Virtuals

Aggregate status and availability for all virtual servers being monitored by CFM. Clicking on Virtuals expands this item to show a list of all monitored virtual servers. Each virtual server expands to list the Cisco server load balancing devices associated with the virtual server.

Reals

Aggregate status and availability for all real servers being monitored by CFM. Clicking on Reals expands this item to show a list of all monitored real servers.

LocalDirectors

Aggregate status and availability for all LocalDirectors being monitored by CFM. Clicking on LocalDirectors expands this item to show a list of all monitored LocalDirectors.

Forwarding Agents

Aggregate status and availability for all forwarding agents being monitored by CFM. Clicking on Forwarding Agents expands this item to show a list of all monitored forwarding agents.

Buttons

The buttons in the CFM Main window provide the following functions:
Button Description

Specify an Action

Lists the available actions that you can perform on the selected resources. The following values are possible:

Show Details---Displays a window with detailed information about the selected device (Forwarding Agent Details window, LocalDirector Details window, Virtual Details window, or Real Details window).

Show Available Services Managers---Displays the Services Managers window where you can select the services manager that you want to access.

Help

Displays helpful information on the current window.

Exit

Terminates your connection to the CFM server.

CFM Services Managers Window

The CFM Services Managers window (Figure A-7) is displayed after you start the CFM client from the CiscoWorks2000 desktop. From the CFM Services Managers window, you can select the services manager that you want to manage.

Buttons

The buttons in the CFM Services Managers window provide the following functions:
Button Description

Load Balancing

Displays the Content Flow Monitor for monitoring Cisco server load balancing devices.

Forwarding Agent Details Window

The Forwarding Agent Details window (Figure A-8) is displayed when you select a forwarding agent in the CFM Main window and click Show Details. The Forwarding Agent Details window provides detailed information about the selected forwarding agent.

Fields

The Forwarding Agent Details window contains the following fields:
Field Description

IP Address

Configured IP address of the Forwarding Agent. SNMP queries will be sent to this address to access CASA information.

CASA IP Address

Configured IP address of the CASA feature. This is also known as the control address.

State Notification

Indicates whether or not a ciscoCasaStateChange notification is generated when the state changes. The possible values are Enabled or Disabled.

Multicast IP Address

Multicast IP address for this CASA entity.

Multicast Port

Port which this CASA entity uses to exchange Wildcard Affinities with its CASA partner. This applies to the CASA IP address and the multicast address.

Multicast Password Timeout

Number of seconds that the previous password remains in effect after receiving the new password.

Statistics

The Forwarding Agent Details window provides the following statistics:
Field Description

Cache Entries

Number of affinities in the affinity cache.

Cache High Water Mark

Maximum number of affinities (high water mark) concurrently held in the affinity cache.

Cache Drops

Count of affinities which CFM was unable to enter in the affinity cache because of low memory conditions.

Total Flows

Total number of flows that this forwarding agent processed since startup.

Wildcard Affinity Total Packets

Number of packets that matched any wildcard affinity.

Tabs

The tabs in the Forwarding Agent Details window provide the following functions:
Button Description

Wildcard Affinities

Displays the Forwarding Agent Wildcard Affinities window for this forwarding agent.

Forwarding Agent Summary Details Window

The Forwarding Agent Summary Details window (Figure A-9) is displayed when you select the forwarding agents folder from the CFM Main window and click Show Details. The Forwarding Agent Summary Details window provides detailed information about all forwarding agents being monitored by CFM.

Fields

The Forwarding Agent Summary Details window contains the following fields:
Field Description

IP Address

Configured IP address of the Forwarding Agent. SNMP queries will be sent to this address to access CASA information.

CASA IP Address

Configured IP address of the CASA feature. This is also known as the control address.

State Notification

Indicates whether or not a ciscoCasaStateChange notification is generated when the state changes. The possible values are Enabled or Disabled.

Multicast IP Address

Multicast IP address for this CASA entity.

Cache Entries

Number of affinities in the affinity cache.

Cache High Water Mark

Maximum number of affinities (high water mark) concurrently held in the affinity cache.

Cache Drops

Count of affinities which CFM was unable to enter in the affinity cache because of low memory conditions.

Total Flows

Total number of flows that this forwarding agent processed since startup.

Wildcard Affinity Total Packets

Number of packets that matched any wildcard affinity.

Forwarding Agent Wildcard Affinities Window

The Forwarding Agent Wildcard Affinities window (Figure A-10) is displayed when click Wildcard Affinities in the Forwarding Agent Details window. The Forwarding Agent Wildcard Affinities window provides detailed information about the wildcard affinities for the associated forwarding agent.

Fields

The Forwarding Agent Wildcard Affinities window contains the following fields:
Field Description

Source Address

Source IP address specified in this wildcard affinity.

Source Mask

IP source mask specified in this wildcard affinity.

Destination Address

Destination IP address specified in this wildcard affinity.

Destination Mask

IP destination mask specified in this wildcard affinity.

Source Port

Source port specified in this wildcard affinity. A value of 0 means all port numbers will match.

Destination Port

Destination port specified in this wildcard affinity. A value of 0 means all port numbers will match.

Protocol

Protocol number specified in this wildcard affinity. A value of 0 means all protocol numbers will match.

Fragment

A checkmark indicates that fragments that match the source and destination IP address are to be sent to the LocalDirector. No checkmark indicates that the fragment must pass this wildcard affinity before sending to the LocalDirector.

Packets Forwarded

Number of packets which matched this wildcard affinity or any fixed affinity associated with this wildcard affinity, that were forwarded to the destination IP address.

Current Flows

Current number of flows resulting from packets received which matched this wildcard affinity. This number is also the number of fixed affinity entries in the fixed affinity cache, resulting from packets matching this wildcard affinity.

LocalDirector Details Window

The LocalDirector Details window (Figure A-11) is displayed when you select a LocalDirector in the CFM Main window and select Show Details. The LocalDirector Details window provides detailed information about the selected LocalDirector.


Tips You can view detailed statistics for all of the LocalDirectors being monitored by CFM by selecting the LocalDirectors folder and then selecting Show Details on the CFM Main window.

Fields

The LocalDirector Details window contains the following fields:
Field Description

IP Address

IP address of the LocalDirector.

Fail Over

Enabled or disabled depending on whether fail over is enabled or not.

Fail Over Unit Type

Indicates LocalDirector's role in fail over setup. Primary or secondary.

Fail Over Unit Status

LocalDirector's fail over activity. Active or standby.

Fail Over Cable Status

Indicates state of serial fail over cable between LocalDirector units.

Real Server Details Window

The Real Server Details window (Figure A-12) is displayed when you select a real server in the CFM Main window and click Show Details. The Real Server Details window provides detailed information about the selected real server.


Tips You can view detailed statistics for all of the real servers being monitored by CFM by selecting the Reals folder and then selecting Show Details on the CFM Main window.

Fields

The Real Server Details window contains the following fields:
Field Description

IP Address

IP address of the real server.

Port

IP port of the real server.

Bind Id

Bind ID parameter for this real server.

State

Service state of the real machine.

Protocol

Protocol ID used in sending packets to this real server.

Weight

Weight for the real server. Reflects the availability of a real server. Larger numbers for weight indicate a higher availability of the real server to perform work. A value of 0 is equivalent to placing the server out of service.

Total Connections

Total number of connections to this machine since the last reboot.

Total Packets

Total number of packets flowing between the real server and clients as seen by this LocalDirector.

Virtual Server Details Window

The Virtual Server Details window (Figure A-13) is displayed when you select a virtual server in the CFM Main window and select Show Details. The Virtual Server Details window provides detailed information about the selected virtual server.


Tips You can view detailed statistics for all of the virtual servers being monitored by CFM by selecting the Virtuals folder and then selecting Show Details on the CFM Main window.

Fields

The Virtual Server Details window contains the following fields:
Field Description

IP Address

IP address of the virtual server.

Port

IP port of the virtual server.

Bind ID

Bind ID parameter for this virtual server.

State

Current state of the virtual server.

Protocol

Protocol supported by this virtual server.

Weight

Sum of the weights of all real servers bound to the virtual server. Higher values indicate higher availability for the virtual server to perform work. A value of 0 indicates that the virtual server is not available to perform work.

Total Connections

Total number of connections to or from the virtual machine since the last reboot.

Total Packets

Total number of packets flowing between the virtual server and clients as seen by the LocalDirector. This also includes packets exchanged between the LocalDirector and forwarding agents for the purpose of transferring fixed affinity information.
