Use these troubleshooting tips to assist you when the results in the UserTracking application are not what you expect.
The following problems are discussed:
When you select Action>Configure TFTP Servers, you might not see any domains displayed in the Select Domain list in the upper left-hand corner of the window. This situation might occur for the following reasons:
If UserTracking does not find any entries, the following possibilities exist:
Ping sweeps are performed based on how many hosts are possible in a subnet. If the number is less than or equal to 256, then ping sweeps will be performed in that subnet. If the number of hosts in a subnet is greater than 256, then ping sweeps will not be performed. However, if ping sweeps are not performed, during a major acquisition information will still be obtained from the router or switch mapping tables.
Although UserTracking stores the VMPS information on a TFTP server, it uses FTP to transfer the information to the server. You must configure an account for FTP access by UserTracking. If you are using Windows NT, Microsoft IIS 2.0 installs an FTP daemon that you can use with UserTracking. Create a new user with the name cisco and the password cwsi. Make sure that the password never expires and the new user has administrative capabilities. Enter the new user name and password in the TFTP Configuration window and click Apply. See the "Configuring TFTP Information" section in Chapter 3, "Managing VMPS Servers and Dynamic VLANs" for more information.
To restart the ANI process, open a command prompt or shell window. Enter stopcwsiserver to stop the CWSI server processes. When the prompt returns, all the daemons have been stopped. To restart the processes, enter startcwsiserver and wait until the prompt returns.
For more detailed information about the ANI process, see the Getting Started with CWSI Campus publication.
