Table 2-1 is an overview of the Campus Manager installation tasks. It contains references to more detailed information about each task.
| Task | Steps | References |
|---|---|---|
1. Prepare to install Campus. | Verify that server requirements are met. | |
2. Install Campus. | Run the installation program. | |
3. Verify and troubleshoot installation. |
a. Verify the correct files and directories are installed. | |
|
b. Analyze installation error messages. | ||
4. Set up Campus Manager | Prepare the system for Campus applications and set up the applications. |
This section describes a new Campus Manager installation. If you are upgrading from a previous version of CWSI Campus, refer to the "Performing an Upgrade Installation" section.
Campus is installed in the default directory C:\Program Files\CSCOpx. If you selected another directory during the CiscoWorks2000 CD One installation, Campus is installed in that directory.
During installation, you might see warnings from the Windows NT system that it has found a read-only file. You can choose Yes to overwrite the file, No not to overwrite the file, or Cancel to cancel the installation. If you cannot continue the installation, call your technical support representative for assistance.
You might also see warnings that the installation system is running out of disk space. You can chose to free space on the system and click Yes to continue, or click No to exit the installation.
You can cancel the installation at any time by clicking Cancel at the bottom of any installation window.
The Installer window opens. Continue to Step 4
Step 2 If the window does not open, select Start > Run. The Run dialog box opens. Continue to Step 3.
Step 3 In the Open field, enter:
drive:\setup.exe
where drive is the CD-ROM drive letter.

Note Campus will be installed in the same location as CiscoWorks2000 CD One. The default is c:\Program Files\CSCOpx. |
The Installer window opens.
Step 4 Click Install to continue or Cancel to stop.
If you click Install, the Welcome window opens.
Step 5 Click Next to continue.
The Start Copying Files dialog box opens, displaying the target directory and program folder. The target directory is the directory in which you installed CiscoWorks2000 CD One.
Step 6 Click Next to continue.
The Requirements Validation dialog box opens. The program verifies your available disk space and checks dependencies.
Step 7 Click OK to continue.
When the installation is complete, the Setup Complete dialog box opens.
Step 8 Click Finish. The CiscoWorks2000 Server is running.
If errors occurred during installation, check the installation log file in the root directory on the drive where the operating system is installed. The default is C:\cw2000_in002.log. Each installation creates a new installation log that is saved as a different file. For example, the second time you install Campus, the installation log is saved as C:\cw2000_in003.log. The default installation log from the CD One installation is C:\cw2000_in001.log. For other troubleshooting information, refer to the "Troubleshooting the Installation" appendix.
After the installation finishes, choose one of the following:
For more information about the ANI database, refer to the "Converting the ANI Database" section.
You can upgrade to Campus Manager 3.0 from CWSI Campus 2.2, 2.3, or 2.4. For versions of CWSI Campus earlier than version 2.2, uninstall the application or upgrade to CWSI Campus 2.2 before upgrading to Campus 3.0.
Campus requires CiscoWorks2000 CD One Second Edition, which is the foundation for the CiscoWorks2000 Family of Products; it includes the CiscoWorks2000 Server and the ANI Server. When you install CiscoWorks2000 CD One, the previous version of CWSI Campus is removed and its database is preserved. When you install Campus Manager 3.0, the preserved database is converted to Campus Manager 3.0 format. For versions of CiscoWorks2000 CD One earlier than the Second Edition, you must upgrade to CiscoWorks2000 CD One Second Edition before installing or upgrading to Campus 3.0.

Note Uninstalling Campus deletes the ANI database. |
For more information about the ANI database, refer to the "Understanding the Data Conversion" section.

You might also see warnings that the target system is running out of disk space. You can chose to free space on the system and click Yes to continue, or click No to exit the installation.
You can cancel the installation at any time by clicking Cancel at the bottoms of the installation screens.
If you installed CD One on a clean system, follow the procedure for a new installation in the "Performing a New Installation" section.
After installing Campus, you can manually import your existing database to the system on which CiscoWorks2000 is installed if it was not automatically imported during installation. Refer to the "Importing Data After Installation" section.
To run the installation program for an upgrade:
The Installer window opens. Continue to Step 4
Step 2 If the window does not open, select Start > Run. The Run dialog box opens. Continue to Step 3.
Step 3 In the Open field, enter:
drive:\setup.exe
where drive is the CD-ROM drive letter.

The installation program converts your database but does not remove the original database. The original database is preserved and remains until you manually remove it.
If there is not enough disk space in the location to convert and import the archived database, an information message appears. After the installation finishes, you can import the data manually into a directory that has enough free space. Refer to the "Importing Data After Installation" section.
When the installation is complete, the Setup Complete dialog box opens.
Step 8 Click Finish. The CiscoWorks2000 Server is running.

After the installation finishes, choose one of the following:
This section describes how to manually import data from previous versions of Campus. You might need to import manually if:
The ANI database and other data must be converted from CWSI Campus format to Campus Manager 3.0 format.
Campus Manager 3.0 accesses the ANI database for critical network information. The database from CWSI Campus can be converted to the Campus Manager 3.0 format for immediate use.
The CiscoWorks2000 CD One installation, which is required for the Campus Manager installation, automatically saves your old database. When you install Campus Manager, the saved database is converted to the Campus Manager 3.0 format and imported into the new file, ani.db. After you convert and import your database into Campus Manager 3.0, the old CWSI database, called cwsi.db, remains in the directory you indicated during the CD One install until you remove it.
For more information about the ANI database, refer to the ANI online help or Getting Started with the CiscoWorks2000 Server.
The community strings are transferred from the old ani.properties file to the new anisnmp.conf file. The User Tracking data is extracted from the old cwsi.db file and saved as bg_ut.txt. The User Tracking data is found and processed during the first User Tracking discovery.
Step 2 Log in as the local administrator.
Step 3 Remote mount the directory containing the previous data or copy the data to the CiscoWorks2000 server.
Step 4 Enter:
c:cd \Program Files\CSCOpx\conf\bg2rigel\scripts c:\Program Files\CSCOpx\bin\perl bg2rigel.pl -I path cm
where path is the pathname of the directory that contains the data to be imported.
The converted database is called ani.db.
When you access Campus applications, the data will be found. You should immediately backup the converted ANI database.
Continue to "Preparing to Use Campus Manager."
The uninstall program removes Campus files and settings. Uninstallation allows you to remove only Campus or remove CiscoWorks2000 CD One as well.

Caution Uninstalling Campus Manager will delete the ANI database. To upgrade and convert the database, refer to "Performing an Upgrade Installation" section. |
To remove Campus or other major components:
The Uninstallation dialog box appears, displaying all of the installed components.
Step 2 Deselect the components you do not want to remove or click Uninstall All.
Step 3 Click Next to begin uninstalling Campus.
A dialog box opens, listing the components selected for uninstallation.
Step 4 Click Next.
Messages about the uninstall process appear and the uninstallation finishes.
To reinstall Campus, follow the instructions in the "Performing an Upgrade Installation" section.
