This section describes who should read this guide, how it is organized, and the document conventions in the Cisco Subscriber Registration Center Installation Guide for Solaris.

How This Guide Is Organized

This guide describes how to install the Solaris software components for Cisco Subscriber Registration Center (CSRC) and verify the installation. The major sections of this guide are as follows:

Preparing to Install Cisco Subscriber Registration Center

Describes the CSRC distribution media, and lists hardware and software requirements.

Chapter 2

Installation Overview

Explains what you will need to install CSRC and provides an installation worksheet to aid you. Discusses designing your data center and summarizes the CSRC installation process.

Chapter 3

Installing the Software Packages

Describes installation-specific information needed to install CNR and the CSRC software packages. Also explains how to verify the Modem Registrar and User Registrar Administrator applications. Discusses an example configuration Perl script and a companion template file for setting up Cisco Network Registrar (CNR). Also discusses an example configuration for the CableLabs uBR and explains how to change the encoded passwords in the csrc.cfg configuration file.

Chapter 4

Upgrading CSRC

Explains how to remove the Netscape Directory Server and upgrade the CSRC software to version 1.0(2).

Appendix A

Netscape Directory Server

Describes NDS hardware and software requirements, and explains what you will need to install NDS. Explains the relevant parameters on the installation worksheet and discusses the installation process. Discusses directory replication and explains how to add users to NDS.
