This appendix provides information about the command line used to install the CSRC software packages and the response file.
You use the pkgadd utility to install one or more of the CSRC software packages. The pkgadd utility installs only the packages you indicate in the command line. The order in which you install the CSRC packages is important. You must install the CSRC packages in a specific order (see the "CSRC Installation Requirements" section).
For example, to install the first CSCOcsrcd package from the distribution CD-ROM, enter the following command line:
pkgadd -d /cdrom/csrc_1_0_2/CSRC/Solaris CSCOcsrcd
where cdrom specifies the CD-ROM directory containing the CSRC installer.
To install all of the CSRC software packages on the same host, use the following command line, taking care to enter the CSRC packages in the required order:
pkgadd -d /cdrom/csrc_1_0_2/CSRC/Solaris CSCOcsrcd CSCOcsrcn CSCOcsrcw CSCOcsrcu
If you want the installer to use the parameter values in a response file, you can use the -r response file argument on the command line. For example:
pkgadd -d /cdrom/csrc_1_0_2/CSRC/Solaris [-r response-file] CSCOcsrcd
However, you must specify each package individually on the command line when you use a response file. You cannot specify multiple packages when you specify the -r response file argument. For information, see the following section.
A response file contains the values for parameters required to install the CSRC packages. When you invoke the pkgadd utility with the -r response-file argument, the installer reads the response file you indicate in the command line and uses the values in the file instead of prompting you for the required information.
You can create a response file automatically when you install a CSRC package, such as CSCOcsrcd. When you invoke pkgadd without the -r response file argument, the installer will display the following prompt:
Prompt for all CSRC installation parameters now? [no]:
If you enter yes, the installer prompts you for all of the parameters required to install each CSRC package and saves the values you provide in the /tmp/csrc_install_defaults file.
If you enter no at the prompt, the installer only prompts you for the parameters needed to install the package you indicated in the pkgadd command line, or that you selected from the menu the installer displayed.
After installation completes, you can install an additional CSRC package using the -r /tmp/csrc_install_defaults argument in the command line. The installer reads the information in the /tmp/csrc_install_defaults file instead of prompting you for it. You cannot specify multiple CSRC packages on the pkgadd command line when you use the -r response-file argument.
If you install the CSRC software packages on multiple hosts, you can copy the /tmp/csrc_install_defaults file to each host and use the response file to install the CSRC packages.
