The User Registrar administrator manages User Registrar through the Web UI, which consists of pages that allow administrators to do the following tasks:
You use the toolbar and the navigation bar to proceed from page to page. Individual pages contains fields in which you can enter or modify information.
The User Registrar Toolbar (Figure 3-1) appears in the upper right corner on each of the User Registrar pages. The toolbar consists of the following buttons:

The User Registrar Navigation Bar (Figure 3-2) enables you to navigate from one page to another. The Navigation Bar appears below the page title on each page, except the Login, Logout, and Home pages.

When you type the User Registrar URL, your Web browser displays the Administrator Login to User Registrar page (Figure 3-3). This page allows you to log in to User Registrar.

If you are logging in to User Registrar for the first time, you can use the default username and password shown below. You should, at a minimum change the default password to a specific one for your site. For more information about creating administrators and passwords, see the"Managing Administrators" section.

When you click Login from the Administrator Login to User Registrar page, User Registrar displays the Home Page (Figure 3-5). This page is the central location from which you can reach the pages that allow you to manage subscribers, modems, computer, services, defaults and administrators.

When you click Subscribers from the Home Page, User Registrar displays the Manage Subscribers page (Figure 3-7). This page allows you to add, view, edit, or delete subscribers. It provides a paged view of all the subscribers in User Registrar.

When you click Add Subscriber from the Manage Subscribers page, User Registrar displays the Find Billing Account page (Figure 3-8). This page allows you to search for the billing account information that you need when adding a new subscriber. You can search through the account information using the attributes: account number, last name, or telephone number.
To find the new subscriber's billing information, do the following:
Step 1 From the Manage Subscribers page, click Add Subscriber.
Step 2 From the Find Billing Account page, enter the subscriber's account number, last name, or telephone number, and click Search.
To search using wildcards to match a pattern.

When you click Choose next to the desired account on the Find Billing Account page, User Registrar displays the Add Subscriber page (Figure 3-9). This page allows you to register a subscriber by entering the subscriber's username, password, modem MAC address, and service selection.

In all cases there is no automatic way for you to learn the modem's MAC address; it must be entered. The modem's MAC address is unlike the computer's MAC address, which you could learn by having subscribers run the ipconfig command on their PC and read back the MAC address).
When you click Add Subscriber from the Add Subscriber page, User Registrar displays the Confirm Addition of Subscriber page (Figure 3-10). The page displays a summary of the new subscriber information and allows you to confirm the addition of a subscriber, or return to the original subscriber page.

This page allows you to view the subscriber's account number, full name, address, username, modem's MAC address, type of service, host name, and a listing of the registered computers.

When you click Reset Modem on the Manage Subscribers page, User Registrar displays the Reset Modem page. This page displays the cable modem's MAC address, the subscriber's username and account number. This page allows you to execute an SNMP reset of the subscriber's cable modem.

When you click Edit next to the specific subscriber on the Manage Subscribers page, User Registrar displays the Edit Subscriber page (Figure 3-13). This page allows you to change the subscriber's username, password, modem's MAC address, and type of service. You can also disable the subscriber from using User Registrar.

When you click Modems on the Home Page, User Registrar displays the Manage Modems page (Figure 3-17). From this page, you can choose to display or edit subscribers' modem information.

You can search for modems by account number or MAC address. You can use wildcards such as * and ?. You can combine the account number and MAC address in the search criterion.
You can also search for modems by IP address. You can use wildcards, but you cannot combine the search with any other search criterion. If you do, User Registrar displays the error message, "You cannot combine an IP address search with other search criterion."
If User Registrar knows the IP address (there is a lease) then it displays it. If there is no lease, User Registrar displays the string <unknown>.

To find a subscriber's modem information, do the following:
Step 1 From the Manage Modem page, enter the account number, modem's MAC address or IP address.
Step 2 Click Search.
Every subscriber can have only one modem per account, therefore when you add a subscriber you add the subscriber's modem information (MAC address). For more information about adding subscribers, see the "Adding a Subscriber" section
When you click Edit for a specific modem on the Manage Modems page, User Registrar displays the Edit Subscriber page (Figure 3-13). For more information about editing subscriber information, see the "Editing Subscriber Information" section.
Every subscriber must have an associated modem. To delete the subscriber's modem information, you must delete the subscriber. For more information about deleting a subscriber, see the "Deleting Subscriber Information" section.
When you click Computers on the Home Page, User Registrar displays the Manage Computers page (Figure 3-19). This page allows you to add, edit, or delete subscribers' computers.

When you click Add Computers from the Manage Computers page, User Registrar displays the Add Computer page (Figure 3-20).This page allows you to add computer information to an existing subscriber. On this page specify the computer's device name, description, MAC address, and owner's name for the computer you want to add.

When you click Add Service on the Manage Services page, User Registrar displays the Add Service page (Figure 3-27). This page allows you to add a service.
To add a new service, you must do the following:
1. Name the service, supply a description, and price
2. Select an MR service package that you want associated with this service, and the corresponding CNR client class for the modem and computer
3. Decide whether this service is visible to the subscriber.
4. Specify the maximum number of CPEs this service allows. This value sets the threshold for the maximum number of computers associated with a subscriber for this service. If you do not specify a value, there is no limit to the number of computers a subscriber, who is using this service, can register.
Click the buttons on this page to do the following:

To delete a service, do the following:

Step 2 From the Manage Services page, click Edit on the service line you want to delete.
Step 3 From the Edit Service page, click Delete Service.
Step 4 From the Confirm Deletion of Service page, click Delete Service.

Step 1 From the Manage Defaults page, enter the name and description of the new locale. Note that both fields are required.

User Registrar redisplays the page adding the new locale to the list of locales.
When you click Edit Global Settings on the Manage Defaults page, User Registrar displays the Edit Global Settings page (Figure 3-32). This page allows you to specify the User Registrar defaults for the SNMP community string, the name of the unprovisioned service, and the default locale.

When you click Add Administrator on the Add Administrator page, User Registrar displays the Confirm Addition of Administrator page (Figure 3-39). This page allows you to confirm the addition of an administrator or to return to the original administrator page.

When you click Logout, User Registrar displays the Administrator Logout from User Registrar page (Figure 3-43). This page allows administrators to log out of User Registrar.
