About This Guide

This chapter describes who should read this guide, how it is organized, and the document conventions in User Registrar User's Guide.

Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM, a member of the Cisco Connection Family, is updated monthly. Who Should Read This Guide

The User Registrar User's Guide is written for configurers who may need to customize User Registrar for their company's business needs, and for administrators who need to resolve subscriber provisioning problems and generate reports.

• Configurers should be familiar with Web server programs, programming languages, and understand their site's requirements and existing interfaces.

• Administrators should have an understanding of basic network principles and terminology, and should have hands-on experience in administrating a network.

How This Guide Is Organized

Use this guide when you are planning your installation or to learn how to use the User Registrar product. The major sections of this guide are as follows:

Chapter 1	Overview of User Registrar	Provides an overview of the User Registrar features and indicates where to find the documentation.
Chapter 2	Using User Registrar	Describes the User Registrar Subscriber Web interface.
Chapter 3	Administering User Registrar	Describes the User Registrar administrator functions. Takes you through the User Registrar Administrator Web pages.
Chapter 4	Configuring User Registrar	Describes how to build a pageLogic using the Cisco Web Application Framework.
Chapter 5	Schema Extensions	Provides information about extending the CSRC schema.
Chapter 6	CSRC Callouts	Provides information about creating callouts.
Chapter 7	Accessing the LDAP Server	Provides information about the csrc_tool that you can use to add or update LDAP data.
Appendix A	User Registrar Pages	Provides listings of the User Registrar Subscriber and Administrator pages.
Appendix B	CSRC Schema	Describes the CSRC Schema.
Appendix C	CSRC Error Messages	Lists the CSRC Error messages.
Appendix D	SNMP MIB	Describes the role SNMP manager plays in configuring User Registrar modems.

Document Conventions

This guide uses the following conventions:

• Command paths in a GUI are indicated as follows: Tools>VC List >All Connections

• UNIX paths are indicated as follows: /tools/lits/connections.

• Boldface is used for commands, and buttons.

• Italic is used for keywords and command input for which you supply values.

• Screen font is used for examples of information that is displayed on the screen.

• Boldface screen font is used for example of information that you enter.

TimeSaver Means the described action saves time. You can save time by performing the action described in the paragraph.

Tips Means the folloing information will help you solve a problem. The tips information might not be troubleshooting or even an action, but could be useful information, similar to a Timesaver. Caution Means reader be careful. In this situation, you might do something that could result in equipment damage or loss of data.
