Step 1 of the CSRC installation process is to install Perl version 5.00503 or higher in the C:\Program Files\CSRC\perl directory.
Step 1 of the CSRC installation process is to install Perl version 5.00503 or higher.
The following sections provide information about obtaining Perl, using the binary and source distribution versions of Perl, installing Perl for CSRC.
You can obtain a copy of Perl in the following ways:
If you obtain Perl from the CSRC distribution media, you must install it in the
C:\Program Files\CSRC\perl directory on your Windows NT system. You can install it in another directory; however, if you do you will need to recompile it yourself rather than using the precompiled version that Cisco provides.
If you build Perl from the source distribution, the install location is compiled into it (for example, the location of its support library directory). Therefore, when you invoke Perl, it uses the compiled-in directory path to resolve references to support scripts. If the scripts are not located in the expected location, Perl cannot process CSRC requests. For this reason, you cannot bundle the Perl distribution in its installation directory location on one host and simply unbundle it in another directory location on another host, unless the directory locations are identical.
To install Perl, you need the unzip utility installed and in your search path. For more information about unzip, see http://www.cdrom.com/pub/infozip/. You can download the Windows NT unzip executable from ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/infozip/WIN32/unz540xN.exe.
When you download unz540xN.exe, you need to run the program to unpack the unzip.exe executable needed for the Perl installation.
Cisco has tested and verified that Perl version 5.00503 or higher operates properly
with CSRC.
To install Perl for Windows NT for CSRC, perform these steps in a DOS command shell.
Step 1 Enter mkdir C:\Program Files\CSRC.
Step 2 Enter cd /d "C:\Program Files\CSRC".
Step 3 Enter unzip -q CDROM\perl\NT\perl-install.zip, where CDROM is the mapped drive letter of the CSRC CD-ROM.
Also, be sure to indicate the full pathname of the Perl executable (box 1) on the
"CSRC Installation Worksheet" (see Table 2-1).
After you install Perl, verify that Perl is functioning correctly by executing the following command:
C:\Program Files\CSRC\perl\5.00503\bin\MSWin32-x86\perl -V
If the Perl installation is not valid, executing this command results in a series of errors.
If this occurs, do the following:
