This appendix contains instructions for preserving your database and for downgrading to a previous release of Network Registrar.
Before performing the downgrade, login as superuser and do the following:
Step 1 Shutdown the Network Registrar servers:
/etc/init.d/aicservagt stop
Step 2 Make a copy of Network Registrar's database:
/opt/nwreg2/usrbin/mcdshadow
Step 3 Specify a valid Network Registrar administrator username and password when prompted.
Step 4 Copy the directory /var/nwreg2/data/db.bak into some other directory:
cp -R /var/nwreg2/data/db.bak /var/tmp/NR-db-YYMMDD
Step 5 Protect the copy of the database from unauthorized access by making it accessible only to the superuser:
chmod -R go-rwx /var/tmp/NR-db-YYMMDD
Step 6 When you are sure that you will not need to downgrade to the previous release, delete the copy of the database.
Before performing the downgrade, login as the Windows NT Administrator and do the following:
Step 1 Shutdown the Network Registrar servers:
(a) Select Start>Settings\>Control Panel\>Services\>AIC Server Agent 2.0.
(b) Click Stop.

Step 3 Specify a valid Network Registrar administrator username and password when prompted.
Step 4 Copy the folder \Program Files\Network Registrar\data\db.bak into some other directory that is not in the \Program Files\Network Registrar tree. For example, you might copy it to \Temp\NR-db-YYMMDD, replacing YYMMDD with the current date.
Step 5 Protect the copy of the database from unauthorized access by making it accessible only to the superuser:
(a) Select it on the desktop.
(b) Select File>Sharing.
(c) Click the Security tab.
(d) Click the Permissions button.
(e) Edit the permissions as appropriate.
Step 6 When you are sure that you will not need to downgrade to the previous release, delete the database copy.
