To install Cisco Network Registrar (CNR) on HP-UX, do the following:
Step 1 Make sure the Portable File System (PFS) daemon is running. Log in as root and type:
ps -ef | grep pfs | grep -v grep
Step 2 If the operating system does not display the daemon, then run the following commands to start the PFS subsystem:
/usr/sbin/pfs_mountd & /usr/sbin/pfsd &
Step 3 Insert the CNR CD-ROM in the drive, and mount it with the following commands:
mkdir -p /cdrom /usr/sbin/pfs_mount /dev/dsk/device /cdrom
Replace /dev/dsk/device with the path of your CD-ROM device.
Step 4 If you do not know the path of your CD-ROM device, you can find it using "sam" as follows:
(a) Go to Peripheral Devices -> Device List.
(b) Find and select the CD-ROM device.
(c) Select Actions -> Show Device Files.
Use the Block device file path to mount the CD-ROM.
Step 5 To install CNR, type:
/usr/sbin/swinstall -s /cdrom/hpux/depot nwreg2
The installation installs CNR in /opt/nwreg2 and /var/nwreg2. You cannot choose another directory.
