To install Cisco Network Registrar (CNR) on AIX, do the following as superuser:
Step 1 If you are installing from the CD-ROM:
(a) Insert the CD-ROM in the drive.
(b) Mount it on the /cdrom directory:
# mkdir /cdrom # mount -vcdrfs -r /dev/cd0 /cdrom
(c) Go to step 3.
Step 2 If you are installing from an electronic distribution:
(a) You must have the GNU gzip utility installed and in your search path. See http://www.gnu.org/ for additional information.
(b) Use the cd command to change into the directory in which you wish to unpack the CNR distribution.
(c) Run the gunzip and tar utilities to extract the files from the electronic distribution.
gunzip -c <filename> | tar -xf -
(d) In the instructions below, replace /cdrom with the path of the directory in which you unpacked the distribution.
Step 3 Run the installp command:
/usr/sbin/installp -a -d /cdrom/aix nwreg
The installer installs CNR in /opt/nwreg2 and /var/nwreg2. You cannot change these paths.
Step 4 Run the unmount command to unmount the CD-ROM and then remove the CD_ROM from the drive.
umount /cdrom
To upgrade Cisco Network Registrar (CNR) on AIX, do the following as superuser:
Step 1 If you are installing from the CD-ROM:
(a) Insert the CD-ROM in the drive.

To uninstall the software, run:
/usr/sbin/installp -u nwreg![]()
