Service templates contain a set of QoS services including all configuration parameters needed to implement per hop forwarding behavior for each service level.
A service template defines the QoS services for a QoS domain. The service template contains service definitions, queuing preferences, and drop preferences for provisioning policies, as well as service parameters for RSVP policies.
A service template contains the following definitions:

QPM-COPS includes an initial set of predefined service templates corresponding to common network environments, which you can copy and modify, if required.
When you select a global service template for a QoS domain, the service template definitions apply, by default, to all policies in the domain. However, you can create role-specific service template overrides, which will be applied to the policies in that role. You can apply service template overrides to any service template including Cisco service templates.
QPM-COPS includes the following pre-defined service templates:

When you set up a new QoS configuration, you select a global service template that defines the types of services and scheduling preferences that match the traffic classes in your network.
Procedure
The Service Templates page opens displaying a list of the existing service templates.

Step 2 To view details of a service template, click on that service template name. The settings for the selected service template are displayed.
Return to the Service Templates page by choosing Service Templates in the option bar.
Step 3 Select the check box next to the service template you want as the global service template.
Step 4 Click Set as Global.
The selected service template is now your global service template.
You can create a new service template based on an existing service template.
Procedure
The Service Templates page opens displaying a list of the existing service templates.
Step 2 Click the New Service Template link at the top of the page, or scroll down to the bottom of the page. The New Service Template section is displayed.

Step 3 Fill in the fields in the New Service Template section:
Step 4 Click Create New Template. The Service Templates page reappears displaying the new service template.
You can modify the service template as described in Modifying Service Template Settings.
You can modify any user-defined service template. If you want to modify a Cisco service template, you should first create a new service template based on the Cisco service template, and then modify the new user-defined service template.

Note You cannot modify the DSCP, Excess Action, and Interclass Forwarding fields. You should choose the service template that most closely matches your required definitions for these parameters, and then edit other parameters. |
Procedure
The Service Templates page opens displaying a list of the existing service templates.
Step 2 Click on the service template name you want to modify. The settings for the selected service template are displayed.
Step 3 To modify settings in the service definitions section:
a. Click the Service Definitions link. A new page opens with editable service definition fields.
b. Edit service definition fields as required. See Service Definitions for details.

Note Transmit Factor and Buffer Factor values must always total 100%. When you edit one of these values for a service type, QPM-COPS adjusts the value of the Best Effort factor to preserve a total of 100%. When this is not possible, a message is displayed. Transmit Factor and Buffer Factor definitions in a second-level service type for excess traffic are derived from their corresponding first-level service type definitions, and cannot be edited separately. When the first-level definitions are edited, the second-level Transmit Factor and Buffer Factor definitions are adjusted accordingly according to the relationship defined by the service template. For example, in a service template based on 2LevelAVVID, the Mission Critical Excess Transmit Factor is always half the Mission Critical Transmit Factor value. |
c. Click Apply to save changes and return to the Service Template page.

Step 4 To modify queuing preferences:
a. Click the Preferences link. A new page opens with preference options.
b. Change scheduling and drop preferences as required. See Preferences (Queuing) for details.
c. Click Apply to save changes and return to the Service Template page.

Step 5 To modify RSVP parameters:
a. Click the RSVP Parameters link.
b. A new page opens with editable RSVP fields. Edit these fields as required. See RSVP Parameters for details.
c. Click Apply to save changes and return to the Service Template page.

You can create role-specific service template overrides for any type of service template, including pre-defined Cisco service templates. You can create and restore individual overrides for the service definitions, queuing preferences, and RSVP parameters. For example, you might want to increase the reserved bandwidth of a service level for a traffic on a specific set of devices. In this case, the queuing preferences and RSVP parameters are not affected.

Note When you create an override for the service definitions, all the mapping tables are recalculated. |
Procedure
Step 2 Click the link for the section you want to modify. The section appears with editable fields.
Step 3 Edit the fields as required. See the following sections for more information:

Note Service names cannot be edited in a service template override. |
Step 4 Click the Apply Override button. The override is applied and a Restore to Global button appears. When you next display the Role page, it will display the service template override.
Step 5 You can restore to the global service template settings at any time.
a. In the Role page with the service template override, click the service template name. The Service Template page appears.
b. Click the Edit icon next to the section whose override you want to cancel. The section appears with editable fields.
c. Click the Restore to Global button.

You can delete any user-defined service template.
Procedure
The Service Templates page opens displaying a list of the existing service templates.
Step 2 Select the check box next to the user-defined service template you want to delete.
Step 3 Click the Delete link at the top of the page.
The selected service template is deleted from the QoS database.
