Description
The Service Definitions page displays editable fields for modifying service templates and creating service template overrides.
| Field | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Typical Link Speed | Link speed in Kbits/sec, used to calculate values for Transmit Factor and Buffer Factor. |
|
Total Queue Size | Total queue size in Bytes. |
|
Service Name | The names of the service types defined in the service template. A service template can define different levels of service types to handle excess traffic. The relationship between first-level and second-level service types varies according to service template. | Cannot be modified when applying a service template override. |
DSCP value | Differentiated Service Code Point values. These values are set in the IP header and are used to color the packets for scheduling. | Cannot be modified. |
Transmit Factor | The amount of bandwidth reserved for each service level in Kbits/sec. The total reserved bandwidth for all service types must equal 100% of the bandwidth. | Transmit Factor values must always total 100%. When you edit one of these values for a service type, QPM-COPS adjusts the value of the Best Effort factor to preserve a total of 100%. When this is not possible, a message is displayed. When a service type has a second-level service type for excess traffic, the bandwidth factor for both service types is defined by the first-level service type. The bandwidth factor for the second-level service type is not included in the total and cannot be edited. |
Buffer Factor | The amount, in Kbits, of reserved packets in the buffer for each service level, when there is congestion. This determines the relative priorities for discarding packets. | Transmit Factor and Buffer Factor values must always total 100%. When you edit one of these values for a service type, QPM-COPS adjusts the value of the Best Effort factor to preserve a total of 100%. When this is not possible, a message is displayed. When a service type has a second-level service type for excess traffic, the buffer factor for both service types is defined by the first-level service type. The buffer factor for the second-level service type is not included in the total and cannot be edited. |
Excess Action | Defines the action to be taken on packets that exceed the rate limits defined in the matching policy. The action can be to discard the packets, or to change their service type to a defined second-level service type. | Cannot be modified. |
Packet Size | The packet size for which the service level definitions apply. |
|
Interclass Forwarding | Defines the priority of the packets in each service level in the queuing system. | Cannot be modified. |
Apply or Apply Override button | Applies changes to the service template or the service template override. | When you create an override for the service definitions, all the mapping tables are recalculated. |
Restore to Global button (Service template overrides only) | Restores service template override settings to the global service template settings. | Restores mapping table definitions. |
